It would be financially wiser and a better purchase to just remove the clutch, check and decide from there. It may mean a bit more down time but you can EMS parts from Japan fairly cheap and they usually show up within a week. Personally I think a week downtime for what could be the difference between a no name clutch that may last you a year or two or a OS clutch rebuild that will last you much longer with peace of mind is well worth it. But everyone has there constraints and opinions

I have an "F1 Racing" 6 puck clutch in my GTR. It has about 30,000 km on it and still drives fine, and holds up to some rough street driving. My car is likely similar in power to yours. All the basic mods, running on steelied stockers but still on stock injectors so only 1 bar on a chipped ECU.
Haven't felt it slip yet...
I have yet to track it, but will be this year. (If I ever get it outta the damn body shop...)
It doesn't "chatter" on starting, and will be easier to modulate than a twin plate.
So I, personally, have no complaints with it.
If you really only want a few years, I'd say go for it. Rebuild your OS in the meantime and throw it back in later.....
R32 GTR clutch will be fairly easy ***with a hoist and the proper tools***.
I have NO idea why ANYONE would pull the engine on this car JUST to do a clutch....inviting more issues than solving IMO.
Hope this helps.'89 GTST - SOLD

i put a spec stage 3 in mine, was really inexpensive, and seemed to handle it just fine. thing lived sideways haha
as far as doing the work. my dad and i put the car on jack stands on my garage floor dropped the tranny and did it that way... its not thaaat hard, with a hoist it would be dead simple.Last edited by GTS-James; 05-29-2013, 02:37 PM.1989 Gts-T Sold

I'd say drop the tranny and decide once you know what's up. Might be a simple disc replacement for $500. Pulling the engine too isn't easier and may cause more issues or worse, find more things to replace while its out. A tranny jack helps a lot. Makes the job easier. I can pull an engine in 6 hours and or a tranny in less than 1 so I'd say Definitely forget the engine pull.
I loved my carbpnetics twin more than my OS giken twin and nismo super copper twin but had crank walk within 1200km. Other than that it was pretty good. Softer than the nismo and rated a few hundred ps higherLast edited by NismoS-tune; 05-29-2013, 03:43 PM.Black 1991 GTR. Serious garage stand mantle/parts car.
