  • Nismo Rear Diff Clutch Pack Installation ???

Hi everyone, doing a major rear subframe build (thread eventually come as TTBB Rear Subframe Build) but now have few technical questions about diff. Im using Nismo 3843S-RS521 rebuild kit but, cant seems to find any instructions of how to arrange plates, kinda figure all the measurements but no arrangements, if anyone knows ENGLISH version or any technical information please send a link over!

    Now pics:

This is how the plates come out, for a few hours I was under impression that somebody already installed Nismo plates in there but, after a little research i figure out that they come grooved stock, just like Nismo ones!
Arrangement is exactly as in FSM EXCEPT, I DONT HAVE SPACERS ON EITHER SIDE OF THE PACK???
Center on the left, casing on the right

Also, Ive seen multiple threads of rearranging first 2 plates (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuMLnWHRs5Y) and I agree that it is easy and indeed works but i think Nissan did the way they did that from factory (2 clutches together) is because they didn't clutch disk to work against middle solid section, to make the whole thing serviceable and to eliminate wear, if you know what i mean.

Most likely arrangment of plates, top is stock
    #1 Most likely Nismo
#2 Logical (SAME AS OEM) where Spring plate doesnt work against clutch disc!

Instructions in Japanese, measurements specs and steps are very similar to FSM

Instructions from Nismo "whats included" PDF - FULL PDF HERE

Picture is for 8kg one where I have 12kg (RS521) one!

ALSO, im ashamed to ask this but, WHAT WEIGHT AND TYPE (synthetic or not) OIL?

I had mine built with the same kit. We used the original shims and packed the plates accordingly.
I got three seasons out of it. I think using proper shims would've yielded a longer life. Problem is you need to get everything g installed and figure out the clearances and order the required shims for $12 ea and wait 2 weeks.
For oil I use Liqui Moly GL5 75w90 with no issues. Just change it after the first 1k-1.5k.
Another more costly but good plan is Whitehead performance in the GTA.

Accordingly to what? My/nismo layout with #1 beside it?

FEW SEASONS? What happened after, it was worn? If life is so low after installing its almost better to live everything stock, this diff had 140k+ km but breaking torque was really high!r

Proper shims? You meant side spacers or actual shims that goes between spring plate and casing (more preload), spacers??? My diff didn't have any in place when taken a part!??

Im so exhausted from searching all this info for the past straight 8 hours!(((
