    Went through aircare today, passed. I had no idea I'd had my cars for 2 years, now!

    Edit: More like what am I going to do today, finish sanding my now wingless/holeless trunk, do a few more coats with a spray can and clearcoat it. Wingless can't come soon enough

      Replaced the vent to the right of the steering wheel with an Auto Meter boost gauge in a custom panel. FINALLY, an accurate pressure/vacuum reading!

          nice, just orderd my z32 maf. you need a tune after that? or just plug and play?

          "Z32 connections are marked A to F but only four connections are used when fitting to the rb20det.
          This wiring diagram is based on fitting a z32 afm to a r32 gts-t.
          A: Blank off
          B: connect to Black wire
          C: connect to black/silver
          D: connect to white
          E: connect to black with white trace
          F: Blank off
          A Z32 AFM will support up to 450 BHP with the correct supporting mods, it has a 80mm diameter and you'll need the eprom remapped to suit"

            Yes, you'll need to retune fuel, ignition maps after changing MAF translation table (to Z32), etc as the load scaling would be changed on fuel, ignition maps.

            EPROM (Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory) chip. When retuning stock ECU, most call it chipping a ECU, the old 28 pin EPROM chip is removed and a 28pin EPROM socket is fitted / soldered in and a reprogrammed 28pin EPROM chip (modified fuel, ignition, etc maps on it) is installed.

            But Nistune has made chipping obsolute, as it replaces EPROM chip with Nistune board, etc that stores the maps, etc and allows real time tuning via CONSULT diagnostic plug under dash on drivers side of car. Nistune modernises stock ECU, so it's similar to reflashing stock R35 GTR ECU. But with Nistune, changes to maps can be done in realtime and engine reacts straight away.

            I run Nistune in my cars stock ECU. It feels like engine reacts quicker with Nistune installed (ECU accesses maps quicker).

              ya my car is makeing a TON of white smoke. smells like unburnt fuel. i know my maf is ****, and i have gtr injectors. is nistune expensive? is it basically the same tuning that they do with a dyno?

                White smoke (big cloud of white smoke) from exhaust = oilseal failure on rear of turbo. If little bit of white smoke only when warming up, that's normal (burning off condensation inside engine, exhaust, etc). Black smoke from exhaust = running rich.

                The cost for the parts is cheapish, then install cost (ECU). Can run stock maps, so doesn't need to be retuned straight away on a dyno. If fitting Z32 MAF, GTR injectors, etc at same time, then you need to retune ECU on dyno. So that would mean tuner cost (labour), dyno rental cost, which are usually given to you as one big amount of $$$ to pay.

                  I sodered my z32 maf to my rb25 and without changing my settings on power fc it ran. I never drove it, but it ran.

                  I changed it over to z32 maf before i drove it anywhere and it was all good

                    But you don't know how lean or rich cells are on fuel map and some cells on ignition map might need less or more ignition timing to match. It's just safer to retune engine.

                      yea it is big... had my car in hte shop doing an oil change, after i was done i let it idle for 5 mins and went outside to talk to a buddy, came back and the entire shope was FULL of smoke.. also i was at the gas station and i left it running while i ran inside for a second, came out and there was a huge cloud..everyone was staring haha does a turbo have its own oil supply or is it reg engine oil? and if that seal is gone would that mean it needs a full rebuild?

                        10>:1 .. Not a good time.. I had done the same thing after doing my build last season with RB26 injectors/fuel pump and etc.. Started the car which ran good on cold start maps.. after about 30 seconds, 10:1 on the afrs (can only assume much lower), thing was running like doody. Super rich, bogging out.

                        Definitely needs to be tuned.. If you buy Nistune, buy the consult cable and such. It's good to have

                          This is a RB20DET running rich (smallish non white cloud) -

                          Glenn puts 550cc injectors with a hks 25/30 turbo and finds it un a bit rich on first startup


                          This is turbo oil seal failure on exhaust side (big white cloud) -

                          Similar but big difference due to cloud amount / size and colour of cloud. Watched a Subaru owner driving his car around with big white cloud, just like in second link from exhaust.

                          If like first link, get Nistune. If like second link, new or another second hand turbo.
