  • Rb26 in a gts4

How hard is this to achieve. I haven't paid much attention the 4's until now and would be wondering how hard this would be to accomplish? Is there a difference between the rb26 and gts4 trannies or are they the exact same? If you have any input please let me know.

they are exact same, rb20 engine mounts work better on the 26 for the swap, and the wiring is frustrating

      I thought the GTS-4 tranny is not the same as the RB26? I remember vaguely seeing RB26 tranny>RB25 tranny> GTS-4 tranny(RB20)

      Not sure at all do.

I'm not worried about the wiring as that will be an easy fix. I am wondering about the tranny and if I need to use the 20 mounts to get it to work? Also is the trans the same? I really need to know

You wanna sell the shifter part to it? I need one. That sounds good but lastly then I need to know if I will need to use rb20 mounts or if I can just use 26 mounts. The 26 would be better

The gts4 rear end has a shorter final drive and the transmission has different gear ratios, I believe.

Actually I will need to know this as well! I will be using a rb26 diff for the front so will I have to use the following:
Rb26 front diff/trans/ rear diff in order for things to cooperate properly?

No worries man, I thought it was just another person trolling a thread. And no I just found that deal for the gts 4 that was already rb26 wired up and couldn't pass it up. Gameplan is within the next month to buy a motor and drop it in so I finally have a vehicle to drive. I would just like to know if I run the 26 diff with 26 trans should I change the rear diff as well? Also well the motor is out would you guys change the turboes? Anyways let me know as I will be tackling this very soon

                            Hey man,

I have a GTS4 with an RB26. If you have any questions let me know, I can try to help you out. Don't get wrapped up with coulda shoulda woulda. I certainly don't want to start a debate but, having a swapped out GTS4 is far more bad ass then just buying a GTR. It goes way back roots of "hot rodding" a car anyways - there are few people that would actaully do it. Personaly, I think the non-wide body looks better too.

Anyway, as far as the difs go I would use the GTS4. They have a 4.37 ratio where as the GTR has a 4.11. You can really feel the difference. For whatever you loose in top end I can promise you its worth it. I drove my car HARD and never had a problem with the drivetrain... In fact my RB26 spun a rod bearing before I had any drivetrain issues. We'll see how it fairs with the new built 26 thats I'm putting together now... however, I don't foresee any problems.
