  • ECU Fault Code Help

Hey guys I just read my ecu and the following codes came back..
    54-Auto signal to the ecu
    12-Mass airflow sensor circut

Can somebody explain what then mean and how to fix them? Its Appreciated. Thanks

PS: went to resolder the circuts and it all looked bran new, no cracks in the solder or anything.. so i resoldered a couple connections anyway just because.. didnt do anything

Possibly the MAF connector? To me "circuit" means everything that relates to the MAF, including the harness and MAF itself.
You could try swapping the MAF with a known working one if you know someone around your area.

Are you having any issues, or did you just check the ECU for fun? :P

Also for the codes to go away after you fix something you may have to reset the ECU.

EDIT: Just read your other post about bogging down. Sounds like one of your coils is on it's way based on your resistance test. Make sure you clean your MAF with either MAF cleaner or contact cleaner.

well i just cleaned my maf a little while ago and it helped for maybe like half a day.. could the self cleaning element be pooched? there was alot of oil in my intake piping the first time i took it off this season

what about auto signal to ecu? to me that sounds serious

Maybe there's a short in the MAF harness and when you took it off to clean it made it work for a while. I'd say your MAF might be on it's way though, since that is the most common issue. Cleaning it only prolongs it's life for a little.

This is what Skym said a while back about auto signal code:

Earthing that wire on ECU loom should turn this error code off (ask a autosparky how to do this). Also I think can be turned off on ECU side via tuning software, but can't find it.

ok so the auto signal is nothing to worry about then.. its hard to say about the harness.. the plug looks new.. so if i were to test the maf with a volt meter were would i put the positive and negative prongs?

Metering your MAF is to long and complicated to type out. Get yourself the R32 Engine Manual, the flow chart diagnosis the entire MAF circuit.
