Ok so I grabbed a timing gun off a friend and we were about to set the timing.
Put the pos neg on the battery, but where does the other clip go?? We thought it goes around one of the cables leaving the igniter pack? But we didn't get a pulse.
Also we tried adjusting my idle..wouldn't go lower than 1k rpm.
    Could be because of timing?

Interesting that it was the CAS. Didn't miss throughout powerband when I had CAS failure on my car, just CAS error code, hard starting when cold or hot.

Incorrectly adjusted TPS or advanced ignition timing can make idle higher. Same with faulty IACV.

On the coilpack loom that plugs into ignition module (black square box) on top of back of engine, there's a small loop of black wiring, that's where timing light connects to. Be aware timing can rise, fall 5 degrees or so which makes it difficult to set CAS. It's the idle stabilisation on stock ECU doing that.

Need to put ECU into idle adjustment mode (all the way to left side) via diagnostic screw on side of ECU and pull AACV plug off. Then adjust AACV to 650rpm which matches what is on stock ECU. Basically AACV and ECU idle rpm need to be the same (650rpm). Should do this when engine is fully warm, where ECU is at 650rpm. Then return diagnostic screw to run mode (note where run mode is, amount of turns between idle adjustment, run mode before adjusting screw).

Skym is a wealth of knowledge.
Also, if u cant cant your idle bellow 1K, it could be because your Throttle position sensor could be above spec and not activating idle switch. Set to 0.46 volts or tad lower.
All this plus more is on the R32 Engine Service manual.
