As long as I take care of it and keep it clean then rust shouldn't be a big problem. I was looking into a clear coat for it but I think Im just gonna leave it like it is. It feels like chrome, all nice and smooth. Actually, I polished it then I was told to use the soft buff on it to finish it off. I wonder if that was supposed to be the final coat. I did soft buff it so we'll find out.

Rust will definetly not be a problem with that piece since its made of Aluminum
and it does not rust at all

        Updates!!!!!!

Alrighty so I've been up to no good lately. I finally got N so I can now drive my babe around and she ends up breaking on me. Basically I have a dead coil pack in cylinder #1 so I've orderd a bunch of parts through Adam at Feast. He gave me a heads up on the 1-2 week wait for the coil packs ahead of time so I thought that while my car wasn't going to be moving anytime soon I would start to tear it apart. I orderd everything for the cooling system and the coil packs so by tearing it apart I ment preping it for the new water pump and what not.

Anyway after getting the rad out I noticed I was missing one of the bottom bushings in the rad.

I also found out why the fan shroud was all floppy on one side, because it was cracked at the bottom.

And then things kinda went downhill from there. I'm one of those guys that cant stand doing things half-a**ed and was really sick of looking at the horns tied to the a/c fan and then the wires for the a/c fan seem to be completely cut so the fan is doing absolutly nothing other than looking pretty and it's not even doing a good job of that. I also noticed that the hood latch was not bolted down at the bottom. Instead of mounting the intercooler with both bolts (one at the bottom of the center brace and the second at the top of the center brace mounting to the bottom of the hood latch) the previous owner took the quick and lazy (no offence if/when you read this) and drilled down alittle lower. However I think he planned this out, by that I mean he mounted the intercooler lower to allow for more of the core to show in the grill creating better cooling efficency. But I removed all that so I could remount my horns somewhere a little more hidden. I've also done this to fix all of the open ended wires that are just sitting there fully exposed and to re-wire the front end.

Sorry in advance for the blurry pics.

Notice where the support was cut to allow for the N1 ducts. Due to care-less-ness it has started to rust as it was cut and the bumper was istalled over without deburring the cuts leaving a mess of a job for me to fix. I plan on removing this support and cleaning it up and painting it black to match the bumper so it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.

Complete with freshly whiped clean Wine red bumper support.

Well did more work on my car today.

          Remounted the intercooler properly.

Hide my horns with some extreme high end customizing.

Close up of the intercooler top.

All piping installed. I realized why the prevous owner didn't install it properly, cause it's almost impossible to get the intercooler piping on.

          And my favorite of all,

            Ryan,

Yes I mounted it like that on purpose because it didn't used to sport such a big GTR front bumper. It used to be a GTS bumper I had removed the center support to allow air flow. It actually looked perfect on that old bumper. It had to go though when it cracked. =/ GTR bumper was cheap and easy to come by. One more thing about the intercooler, the mounting tabs were bent when I received it. It was a used intercooler =/

Ryan the sloppy job on the rad fan shroud wasn't my doing. It didn't "flap" when I had it. Only after I received it back from getting the front bumper painted and they put it all back together.

Yes, intercooler piping is a B**** as the piping is never quite bent properly or long enough. Once I put the piping on it didn't line up properly to the bumper etc. It was never easy :P As well when the car was returned to me you remember that the rad hoses were not tight and leaking coolant...They also didn't tighten the intercooler piping so it blew off on me on the way to work. Nice way to ruin a $70 dress shirt lying down on the side of the highway trying to fix a bad boost leak =/ God damn. Oh and the rebar thing pisses me off. I got rid of mine because it was rusted like you'd never believe, bought a brand new one and they didn't bother painting it after they plasma cut it? Sorry bro.

As for the horns? Previous to you buying the car they weren't even installed...lol. I just put them in for you before I dropped the car off hey they worked right? :P.

No I'm not offended. As for body work/brackets. It was never my thing. I did however pay very close attention to the mechanical workings of the car which I think matter more. Would you rather have your horns mounted properly, or a mechanically perfect car? Right I think so :P

As for the coils I polished the insides of them, changed oil so frequently it came out clean, made sure the fuel system was top notch, cleaned out the engine, fixed all vacuum leaks, bad grounds etc. You name it, I did it. Not to mention changing all the suspension pieces in one go instead of one part.

              Andrew,

No worries on the intercooler tabs being bent. It's aluminum, which is a soft metal = it bends with ease. I bent it back into shape and mounted it.

Rad was missing a bushing. Just ordered through Adam.

Intercooler piping is a b*tch to install. Im gonna pull out my angle grinder and cut the hole open properly to allow the piping to fit with ease. As for the rebar, I'm in the work of deburring it and then going to repaint it black to match the car. Im also looking to redrill the holes and properly line up the front end. With the intercooler now mounted where it is there is a huge gap between the bumper and the intercooler. I dont mind it as long as everything lines up.

Horns work twice as good now that I have rewired them.

Bodywork is gonna be taken care of. Gonna be modding the trunk and filling in some holes and going over the entire car looing for any spots of rust and taking care of them. I like how the drive shaft is painted black and not all rusty like my truck was.

I got some new bolts for my coil packs.

Glad to hear you changed the bolts. It would SUCK if you had to tap them all after breaking off a head =/

I'm prety sure the bottom of that fan shroud actually just clips in place. Why don't you just plastic weld it?

To be honest you should upgrade that intercooler to a better suited option. A stock GTR intercooler would be nice , and fit PERFECTLY in behind the bumper, getting the piping correct would be another issue :P.

Hmm, I should let you have a round with the GTR. Want to polish a very oily engine bay? Or come by and help tomorrow ???

PS: can you get me a discount on vacuum piping, and heater hoses, pcv lines included haha =]. I'm thinking about going to just go and buy 100 feet of each lol

I'm not surprised the horns work better now, the wires previously looked so fragile I didn't want to touch them. Those are loud horns to begin with. I'm wondering what they sound like now lol!

Well I managed to keep the clip piece in tackt and on piece. I want to make a new fan shroud out of stainless steel but I'm not sure if I'm gonna have the time for it.

Intercooler would be cool but I'm waiting till I do the turbo/plenum upgrade. Then comes the GTR intercooler.

I would love to have a round at cleaning up your GTR engine bay but I work tomorrow. I get paid time and a half + free lunch for working on holidays and right now I can use all the money I can get. Are you open for me to come by on sunday?

Im gonna pm you on the heater hoses/vacuum hoses. They come in rolls and boxes of so many feet, not sure if it's 50 feet or a 100 feet per box.

As for the horns. Yes they do work better now. I think you had one of them wired up backwards so only one horn was working. I tested them one at a time and the first one worked but the second one didn't. So I switched the wires around and tried it again and it worked. Then I hooked the other one back up and OH BOY was it ever awesome to hear both horns echo across the neighbourhood!

My boss brought up a good point about the a/c fan. I told him I was gonna ditch it since the wires were cut and I did know where they were and thats when he eduacated me. If the fan is pushing air through the a/c rad then it's pulling the air through the intercooler. So basically It's better to have it than to ditch it. So I bought a relay and some other wiring stuff and Im gonna have it hooked up to a toggle switch in the interior.

Anyway I've got alot on my plate right now to get this car on the road. Adam should recive the N1 water pump tomorrow the 21. Then the parts should be sent to me or something.

Removed my GTS-T Spoiler and plugged holes until I get some time to weld them closed permenently. Note car needs to be washed still.

And the reason why I removed it? To upgrade of course.
                    Just purchaced off of Charles,

I mainly bought the new spoiler for looks but once I got home and went to move my GTS-T spoiler my jaw dropped at how much lighter the low mount aluminum one was over my stock one. The GTS-T spoiler must weigh about 3 to 4 times more that the low mount. Its crazy! Thanks Again Charles

Ryan I think your next upgrade should be to stretch out the rear fenders and run some wider wheels that will be flush with teh fender . With the shaved back end it looks nice.

No stop tempting me. I have no more monies. That's why I took the holiday shift. Every penny counts. I've even started to drink kool-aid with my lunch on saturdays and save up my drink money. So far I've got $6.50!

By the way, have you seen kyle's jetta? He just put new adjustable coilovers in it and cut out the inner fender crap. He's literally less than an inch off the ground! And instead of using wheel spacers he grinded down the calipers to get his new rims to fit.

Gotta get my baby back on the road soon. I'm still up for sunday at your place for cleaning the Kelaogafied G-T-R. It's hard to pronounce it (over the internet) like your buddy was while we were making fun of that guy off of you tube. "The turbo's are genuine N1 items" hahaha, that was the video right. Oh well.
