I have been doing a fair bit of research. I learned about the a/r thing when my car stopped misfiring and the top end was just gutless. Thanks for all the tips. It'll probably be a 25/30 or a 2871

As i said in another thread you made, i'm doing a 340whp// 383 ft torque @ 19psi..Can go to 360-370 but my clutch wouldnt stay alive....GT32 turbo with external wastegate, 440cc inj., gtr fuel pump, Greddy fmic,z32 maf,Stock tuned ECU. Theres another guy in here with 360whp but 321 ft torque @19psi with gt30 setup. Its the max you can go with stock internals......Like everyone says....theres a big budget difference between 400hp and 400whp setup. First thing you do: change clutch ( if you have the stock one), SECOND: EBC ..manual boost controller peaks and you setup will sucks with that. THIRD: choose and buy the turbo : Own advice----GT3071r..... After you put all this together and go to the dyno....should have between 320-360 whp at 18-21 Psi ( suggested boost pressure is 19 Max) ...If you wanna go higher Hp -------Headgasket,head studs, tranny, pistons would be great ect ect.

BTW : if you wanna go high hp dont go with a gt25 or gt28, would be too small and more expensive to fit. Even with a gt28 your car wont be fast before 4250-4500 rpm. Rb20det torque/power curve is above 4000rpm.

      gt25: 250-280whp
      gt28:280-320whp
      gt30:320-360whp
      gt32:360-420whp.

On dyno, can achieve 400hp+ with stock gearbox. But can't use 400hp+ on the road when weight of car, tyre grip is taken into equation. That's if you want gearbox to last.

Head doesn't become a problem until around 560hp at engine with stock cams and adjustable cam gears -

Above engine was tuned with Nistune (modified stock ECU, so it's retuneable via cable, laptop). Stock ECU is more than capable of controlling a 560hp RB20DET engine.

Also i haven't read everything in the thread, but if you want to run a top mount manifold set up, you will need to change the intake manifold, because nothing is going to fit.

I am building my race car right now, gt2876r custom exhaust manifold top mount, new intake manifold gt-r style, with a lot of goodies, but i am going to keep it a 320whp for the moment to be reliable on the tranny. this is our biggest concern like skym said before.

Also you probably won't be able to find any power fc for the rb20, even if they still list it at apexi, i work in a raceshop and try to order one my self, my cost was near 1800$ because it is discontinued, but they could do one for me.

i'm in the process of putting a topmount manifold (stacking a gt32 garett style turbo) on my rb20...no aftermarket intake manifold was necessary. Although a dremel was required to shave off a couple mm's of the compressor housing off the turbo to make it fit

I will be running the gt-r intake manifold with the ITB and a adpator plate cnc machined to fit it.

Yes it might depend how you put tu turbo, my turbo is now at the front of the engine, I had it custom made instead of going with the ebay top mount manifold, which is why my turbo is more upfront.

I really should get some picture here.
