I decided to make this thread before i get too far along in my rebuild so if i make a mistake or have an epiphany i can document it for all to learn from, hence half the reason we do this on the forum.
I am in the US (wyoming to be exact) and will be selling parts off the car from the rebuild, already started a threat.... http://forums.gtrcanada.com/parts-sa...tml#post537823
OK to make a long story short, how i came across my skyline....in 2010 after i returned from my tour in Iraq i decided to buy a 1969 camaro for a pretty penny, or 2 million pennies to be exact. after owning the camaro for a while i decided it was cursed since i had to buy a $6000 motor for it then a week later rebuild it for a hyrolock incident. but thats another story for another time. (Camaro 475hp and 490tq all naturally aspirated of course)

I decided i wanted a c6 corvette to twin turbo so i hunted around pretty hard. one day i got an email from a lad wanting to trade his 2003 corvette for my camaro. i didnt want a c5 corvette so i wasnt moved by the offer. Later that same day i came across an ad for a GTST skyline with an rb25det swap, the owner had listed in the ad that he would trade for a corvette....
so yes i emailed the lad about the corvette requesting pictures then immediately forwarding them to the gentleman with the skyline. and naturally after the skyline fellow said he was interested i traded my camaro off for the corvette then 2 days later traded the corvette for the skyline
*note if you do this the court house will not be happy with you*
pictures from previous owner- its too dirty and sad to take a picture of at the moment

car was in decent shape when i got it, minor paint issues and some mechanical imperfections, and your standard wear on an older car. but nothing i cant handle.
The parts that where on the car: (parts said to be on the car)
swapped rb25det engine and tranny
GT35 single turbo 12psi
intake manifold (GReddy?)
500cc injectors
fuel rail (GReddy?)
steal braided line
Lightweight driveline
after market radiator w/ electric fan
i'll post the few that are left when i remember what they are...
So i drove the skyline around for a bit after i traded for it and started to notice somethings the previous owner did to the car which still makes me firmly believe he wasnt very mechanically inclined.
The first thing i happened to notice besides my tach not working, was the lawn and garden battery he had in the engine bay. with the intercooler piping that was installed they chopped out most of the battery tray to make it fit. so i ordered a trunk relocation kit and did it the right way
-but while doing so i noticed the rats nest of wires from the accessories and what not that i now have to clean, organize, and consolidate to tidy up the engine bay (on my to do list still)
after another few days, the car was running poorly and was hard starting (previous owner said it was the stand alone fuel system)(also told me he checked the compression the day we traded an it was about 115-120 a hole) after checking the compression myself it was at about 100 a hole which broke my heart a little. thus i would have to park the car and save up for a rebuild
I have already installed the new fuelab electronic fuel pressure regulator with corresponding fuel pump which i will try to get pictures of. i tested it out before we started the rebuild and it works great, minus the fuel injectors which are bad. F**K my life.
so i have now started the war against the mechanically uninclined to bring this skyline back to its former glory and started piecing together parts for the rebuild.
first a new fuel rail with 750cc RC injectors, had to order a new wiring harness and custom tweak and sodder new injector connectors to fit the injectors
[IMG][/IMG]
JWT lightweight flywheel from the nismo shop
[IMG][/IMG]
obviously going forged pistons and rods
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
still ordering bits for the fuel system, ill get the specs posted
N1 oil pump, nismo clutch pivot ball, timing belt kit, throwout bearing, poilt bearing, crank collar, temp sensors, tomei oil resistor
got some interior bits in the mail from supraclean, international shipping wasnt the nicest to it but the dash surround and everything was ok
also got new rb25 gasket set from the nismo shop, 2 gaskets where damaged in shipping but the guys at the nismo shop hooked me up with new ones right away, big thanks to those guys
Started to pull out the engine and get it ready to take the J&B Engines to get the machine work done to the block.
started pulling the engine apart but ran into a few snags here and there especially since someone misplaced the 14mm socket
got the rest of the engine taken apart this weekend so its ready to go to the shop, yet i can see why the car had blowby and bad compression.
piston 1 and 6 have had a good run but they are way passed needing to be retired, being able to see the piston ring doesnt equal more hp
piston 2 had some damage a while back it looks like from a broken spark plug or tweaked valve

Update 11/19/12
no pictures yet bu i just got work from my machine shop tech and i figured i would fill you guys in.
--before i go to in-depth ill update the parts list, my N1 water pump arrived in the mail the other day and my swirl pot for my fuel system rebuild in on the way, i'll try to get those pictures up over Thanksgiving.
NOW for the bass drop, I took the engine in last week and call back on the engine today to see what parts i needed to order. turns out the original crank i planned on using may not be good enough because some spec-ed mother f**ker didnt know how to put a dampener on a crank soooo I decided to call wossner and beg them to let me swap my piston kit for an 87mm rb26 piston kit and now i am on the hunt for either an rb26 engine and or a rb26 crank to swap into my 25 block.
--this means i will end up haulting production on my head that may not be good enough to use because there was not an adequate amount of oil supplied to the cams which as we all know scared the cam journals sooooo that could be another hit in the wallet.
--Never the less i will not accept defeat and i will re-divert my funds to an rb26 swap either internals or actual full block swap.
FML
I'll try to post pictures and fill you guys in this week when i learn more about the situation and decide what i want to do, if anyone has any ideas for me, give it a post and i'll see what comes around.
Cheers
