  • stock boost pressure is 10PSI?

i just installed my boost gauge in my car, and it seems that i am boosting it to 10PSI. is that supposed to be right for a stock turbo? i was thinking its somewhere around the 7psi mark, but 10 is quite a bit higher then i originally thought it was going to be

With aftermarket exhaust, 10psi is normal.

how do you figure 10 PSI with that?

my car came with a 3" mandrel bent exhaust and it never went above 8 until i hit it up with a grainger valve?

weird...just intake and exhaust, (i thought) on mine, but it hits about 11-12 psi.

ive only got an intake and exhaust on mine. it peaks and holds at 10PSI. how does an intake or exhaust raise the boost level, isnt it supposed to be the wastegate that regulates it all?

My car is total stock will hold 11psi, IF you dont look at the stock boost gauge. So yes this is normal there is nothing wrong with your car.

if you have a autometer probly why, they are never accurate, when i first got mine it was 3psi off then now it is a good 10 psi.

On the Auto Meter boost gauge it always read around 10psi when accelerating in a higher gear with just exhaust, K&N panel filter on a motorway. Factory boost gauge displayed around the same boost level when converted.

Now has around 12psi (from a dyno chart boost graph) with podfilter, exhaust, BOV mods. Leaking BOV can affect the peak boost level
and how fast it produces peak boost level.

Some with exhaust, podfilter + stock turbo have seen 12.4 psi. Didn't report that he had a BOV, but sounds like he might have had a aftermarket BOV.

Anyway, I hope the above is of some help.

From what I understand, just need the RB25 turbo 90 degree elbow that bolts onto compressor housing (front of turbo) and a place on intake piping to plumb in the actuator hose. Also new exhaust gaskets if necessary.

okay lets clear some things up. stock boost on a gts-t is 7psi or bout 0.5 bar. The waste gate is what regulates the presure of the boost. Without an eelectornic boost controller you will be boosting approx 7 psi (stock boost on a gts-t). On the other hand with a boost conroller that regulates the stock wastegate you can push close to 15 psi or 1 bar depending onthe controller, some alow you more boost some allow you less boost. Stock internals dont take much more abuse than 15 psi, although i have a fmic as well so that might increase the amount of boost i can push due to cooling and not frying my internals, so maybe like 12 psi without a fmic...but not sure on that...

if 15 PSI is gained, i would make sure to have a complete 3" exhaust from turbo back, FMIC and probably fuel management before you cook things.

fuel managment isnt needed, upgrade ur fuel pump, maybe some bigger injectors and you will be good, but yea must have is the exhaust and fmic is a must otherwise your going to be pushin too much heat outa that sucker.

to clarify what stock boost pressure should be, i think some people need to consult actual printed manuals before they start saying what boost an engine runs at.

Page 67 of the R32 engine manual.
                              Pressure should be in between 0.8 and 0.9 kg/cm2 (11.38psi - 12.8psi )
