  • Clear liquid dripping

    Hey guys,

I noticed these past few days that my car is leaking some sort of clear liquid. After i leave it parked over night it drips a little bit. Now it seems to be coming from the back of the motor and or transmission. I havnt been able to look at it to extravagantly just yet.

Im thinking it could be power steering fluid as its not motor oil, it could be transmission oil but it wouldnt be clear?

If anyone has any input for what i can check or if anyone has had this problem please let me know so ican get this fixed as soon as possible.

    Thanks

      yeah taste it!

what color is your coolant? some coolants are clearer than flashy yellow, this could also be a possibility.

its not coolant mine is green. if i taste it i dont see how that would differ from the other liquids as i would have to taste everything. It doesnt smell like trans oil tho.

From what your describing, could it be a leaking clutch slave or line?

If your clutch isn't acting up... it's probably just your A/C system releasing condensation, which is normal.

Ill check the clutch slave asap once i finish work. Although the clutch doesnt feel funny but if it is the slave its a pretty cheap fix.

also check your break lines, there are lines that run close to that area. If you have a leak at the master it could be running down the line and dripping in that generic area.

Tranny fluid leaking from the front seal? Don't think that would be clear though. Thats the only thick fluid i can think of.

im actually kind of worried right now. Once i finish work ill take a good look at it and put the car on jack stands so i can go underneth.

yeah thats what i would recommend. but pretty much every fluid in the car has been mentioned. Definatly let us know what you find. I'm kind of curious what that could be. Is it leaking bad?

erm, well the only thing i can think of that matches your description would be the fluid inside the oem front tension rod bushing, if you've still got the stock tension rods... its a super thick clear gooey substance , but thats not in the area in which you say its dripping from.. otherwise, the only other thick fluid would be your tranny fluid

only reason i can't see it being tranny fluid is because he said it's clear, i don't think anyone has a tranny in that good of shape that the fluid stays clear. But being thick throws everything off
