hey, does anybody else have a line that just vents wide open into the engine bay from the charcoal canister? my canister has a line going out of the bottom that just ends after a few inches of hose and doesnt hook up to anything whatsoever. here's what it looks like:

    wtf does this do?
I've been brushing my teeth with jack but it's resulted in terrible amounts of tooth decay.

On mine that feeds to a hard line that runs along my frame towards my fuel tank... I believe thats the line that the fuel vapors travel to the canister.

Just to clarify, what are these two hoses? Should the be left open to vent or should I plug them/get a one-way valve onto them?

You should have brought it over today and it'd be answered/removed.

The left one is just a vent line going into the frame if it's bigger than 7/16" ID. Can't tell whether if it's a small vacuum line or not.

As for the one hard line on the right, trace it all the way, it will go along the firewall and down again to the left side of the engine bay. There is a soft line under there, snip it and put a filter on it. Done.

I just traced it all the way back to the tank and put the filter there.

It's not a vacuum line, just vent into the frame rail. Just rip it out.

i coulda sworn that hard line in the pic connected to one of the lines on top of my charcoal canister, so do we have 2 lines going to the gas tank from the canister? a couple people said the big tube on the bottom of the canister goes to the gas tank as well.

The hard plastic thing stuck down the side goes no where, it's just a vent. I ripped mine out.

The one hard line goes back to the fuel tank.

I picked up a generic one from Lordco, cost $7-10. Universal Check Valve, part #47149 in their system. I'm sure there are others out there.

can you not just plug the vent line coming from the gas tank?

No I don't think you'd want to be doing that...The vent is to prevent an excessive increase of vapour pressure in the tank.
