Agreed.. but it is possible to blast your BoV with zero load is what i'm getting at..

Yeah when you hit the rev limiter and blow your oil pump.

Hmm, must be different for GTR's than GTsT's then...

My BOV blasts at 4500 rpm under no load... Will try to post vid later if I can figure out how to get it from my phone to interwebs... Also boost gauge read about 3-4 ish psi... I must have special car.

No rev limiter, actually happened alot sooner than i thought, i was figuring it'd happen around 6k rpm range. Regardless, boost gauge showed little bit of boost, like 3 ish psi.

was taken from inside the car, can hear the BoV blast at 4500 rpm...

just a couple short clips... so no, you don't need to bounce off any kind of rev limiter or redline a skyline to blast the BoV or create a bit of boost with the engine under no load.

As long as you dont see too much boost it's fine. Anything more than that and I would start checking into your timing. Advanced timing can cause incomplete combustion which is transfered in the exhaust, which can create backfires and allow the turbos to spool due to the partial combustion in the exhaust system.

On RB26, at least mine, that amount of psi is insufficient to cause the BOVs to open, it just get's absorbed in the piping.

Yeh i'm figuring at this point it must be very different for GTRs.. my friends MR2 hit 4 psi under no load... i figured so small pressure isn't really bad, like it barely and very briefly hit 3... but back to the original point and question of the thread. Didn't mean to jack it, just thought i'd show you can do blast with no load on RB20... very minimal boost too. By no means anywhere near normal boost rpm or pressure, and no where near hazardous rpm range on the motor.
