  • Is ~400whp realistic with this?

Ok so I am in the works of upgrading my car and am making a list for spring. Would I be able to make around 400whp off my rb20 fairly safely with the following mods?
    •aftermarket low mount turbo manifold
•ws-0448b turbo (rated at 440hp and I know a couple ppl making 350-400whp off them on rb20s and 25s)
    •divorced dump pipe
    •3" dump pipe and decat
    •3.5" catback
    •fmic
•front facing plenum with 90mm throttle body
    •550cc deastchwerks injectors
    •300lph deastchwerks fuel pump
    •haltech platinum pro ecu
    •stage 2 clutch

I'm pretty sure that's everything I have written down so far for related mods. Some I have, some is installed and some I have yet to purchase, but back to my question, will my engine make a fairly reliable 400hp with that?

how did you hook up your temp sensor in your autobahn 88 decat? I got the same thing and it seems like the hole in it is way larger than the screw on the temp sensor

I'd upgrade your oil pump, and maybe your water pump aswell. Oil cooler is good if your gonna track it. Bigger radiator wouldn't hurt.

Personally I would go with a stage 3 clutch, and you will also need a FPR sir.
Traction is optional, so are zipties

                It's an RB20, not RB26

If u want to make 400hp out of your rb20 your gonna need a generous amount of boost and If your running 14+psi u will need a metal head gasket and arp head studs to prevent head lift and your head gasket blowing out.

i know plenty of guys running 16+psi with stock engines..and have been for over 2 years...soo dont think u really need a metal gasket, and studs, even tho it would help...

lol..... pass the dutchie upon the left hand side.... Seriously though... You may be able to achieve close to 400 hp with what you are gonna do, but reliablilty doesnt sound that promising.. Its tough enough to keep our cars reliable with just gentle mods.. Your going to have to make a few extra changes on top of what you mentioned, as per the above mentioned, cooling is *key* and so is the prevention of your oil making love to your coolant, . Dont forget to think about your drive line, traction and upgraded braking. Good luck with the decisions and funding of your build!
-91' GTR, eventually a reliable track/street car... Might not be not untrue..

Thanks for all the replies, I will definitely be keeping all this in mind over the winter. And as for boost, I will be running a two setting boost cntroller (12psi low and 16psi high and 16psi is the high end of it's efficiency range) so I'm not worried about the head gasket.

                          @ Trickey, I have a gts-t, not a gtr btw

My suggestion, crank the boost on the aftermarket turbo until it goes and drop in the rb25 and build on that! This will allow for more displacement and more power at equal costs
Miss driving sooooo bad! Need to get a car on the road ASAP!

I am aware of rb25 swaps but I would rather build my 20 for now, then sell it to a buddy later on in a year or so when he wants it for his 240. After I sell it, then I'll dump the rb25 engine and tranny in. But I would rather be able to make some good power in the spring than just do a swap. I know the turbo and exhaust parts will fit with an rb25, but would the plenum fit it? I know I would need different injectors for the 25, anything that's different between the two? (for the parts i've listed of course)
