Wanting to do Holset HX40 turbo on my R33 - need to know what it invovles
I'm getting nistune this year also, I plan on buying direct from them nistune.com
awesome, starting to make a list of what i need to get , **** i feel like such a noob with the skyline haha, i'm going to go with rc 720cc injectors, do you think that's an ok size? now are the injectors for the rb25det peak and hold or saturated?
720 should be fine, gerneral rule of thumb with skylines is 1cc = 1hp at the flywheel. After that you want to over shoot the size 20% so when your done they should be running at a proper 80% duty cycle.
From what i recall, gtr style top feed injectors are peak and hold, stock side feed rb25 are saturated.

awesome I shall look for some RC 720CC peak and hold injectors then thanks bro
no problem, only thing i can't remember you should look up but i think the 25 injectors are high impedance. So you either need to get high impedance top feed to match or get low impedance and run a gtr resisotr pack.
a hx35 will be more than enough for what your doing. It will be t3 another thing to consider is there are different exhaust housing sizes, what you want is the smallest to get least amount of lag. If i remember correctly its a 12cm housing turbo is what your after
Oh an that turbo is a chinese knock off, a genuine new holset will be over 1000 bucks
25 bottom end will only take 400whp if you want it to last. There are claims of 500+ on some of the auzie forums but it all comes down to reliability.
I'm currently collecting parts to build my 25. IMO key to reliablity is build the motor to handle 200hp more than your planning to make.
IMO this is your shopping list.
Forged Pisons and rods. I got mine on the ebay combo deal also but watch who you buy from. Make sure its legit.
Acl Race Bearings
Balance rotating assembly
Block and Head decked for metal head gasket.
Heavy duty clutch
Big intercooler
Might get away with 2.5" intercooler pipe, i went 3"
44mm+ wastegate
750+cc Injectors
Walbro fuel pump
upgraded coils
Cams make power easier
upgrade oil pump
Tune
If you really want to get intensive with it, port polish head
valve springs
clean up valve seats
im planing to do a rb25 build too whats this set goin to run you so i know what i need and dont

To do what i'm doing and go overkill on the build to build a bullet proof engine looking about 6000 in parts then machine work. Few extra goodies i'm throwing in mine thats not on that list.
Build on a budget you can acheive the same power goals with probably 4000 ish and have it last a long time, but thats just building the internals, not including manifolds injectors etc.
My problem is i do one thing, drive it for a season and then want more haha. So when i build i do it to go in once make it bullet proof then the factor of how much power to make is just a matter of how long do you want to sit on the dyno.
The goal on my build is to have bullet proof 500-550whp car with everything sized perfect for super snappy response
haha were u finding all these cheap parts!!! every were i look its almost over 10,000 in parts alone just for the motor!! complete top and bottom. then u have to add turbo, intake and exhaust manifolds, intercoolers, flue system ,ecu ect. i wanna go kinda all out the bigest thing for me thos is i want big cam lift 296 in = exh . lol i like the lump sound and sinces it in a tuner car all the old ppl with mussle cars will crap there pants haha
Well when i did my 25 swap i had full intensions of building it one day so i made sure every part that went on was big enough to take it. "Build it once" deal.
The swap and all the bolt ons turbo etc ran me 6 grand first go around. Covered all my bases.
This time building the motor, doing a full forged bottom end and poncams with type a springs in the head. Maybe a mild port job. Thats another 6-7 grand in parts and then machine work. So ya all said and done almost 10grand. Thats cost includes new clutch flywheel that sort of stuff you have to do over, upgrade injectors the other minor bolt ons that add up
I've been doing my car in phases because obviously doing that all at once you gotta have some huge reserves kicking around.
ill be going pro cams type b springs soild lifters im planing a whole TOMEI build pretty much. theres goin to be a lot of work in fort mac to make this happin haha
