I wish there was a plug-n-play option to this issue. Retro fitting a new lens seems out of my elements, unless there is a drawing I could copy and use for the custom brackets.
I'm finding that since I'm doing more night time driving, the beam cut off is becoming really annoying...Unless maybe I swapped the left projector with the right and visa versa?

Most of you guys just use HID set ups for the H1 bulbs, hey? (assuming you use projector headlights, and not N1's).

Mine was more involved but if you get a smaller projector like off the site mentioned above they would fit into the same bracket as the halogen projector with minimal work.

I'm not sure if you wrote that wrong, but most provinces do not need to change headlights to pass safety.

i know in bc and sask for shure if the light doesnt have the visible DOT molding on the light they wont pass it which is where the accord headlights come in, they bolt right up and are the same baisic shape and have the DOT molding to pass, then after you've passed you take them out and put the skyline ones back in

eastern canada may not have caught onto this yet but its some of the hassle that western canada gives us just to make life harder

You guys in those other provinces have it good. But, you pay for that one lack of BS with insurance through the roof and emissions testing (thank god our AirCare is done next year, I'm excempt).

As far as projectors go, its either the housing or the lense that must have the DOT/SAE on it....either/or. The factory Nissan housing has the JDM markings but the glass in front of the projector lens is clear with no refracting properties. That means the lens must have the markings to pass. No markings, no love.

So in BC, unless you have the markings on the lens for the CVSE to see, you are kindof wasting your time. But, like I said before, been cruising around for 4 years now with my factory lights and never had an issue.

My skyline projector lights say DOT on the lens, it is etched in. Replacing projectors is good and all, but jon is right, if your in BC and your lense doesnt say DOT on it they are deemed illegal, they will not pass safety, simple as that. There is a reason people mod Accord lights into our cars. The lights can also be aimed where ever you want them to aim without doing a complete retrofit.

These projectors are DOT Porcshe, I have retofitted Infinity FX projectors into a Nissan Maxima, no problems ever in five years with the constabulary.

you guys are in Ontario though. Its not that they wont retro fit in or that the projectors arent DOT, its the fact that the visible lens does not had a DOT stamp. In BC if a cvse or a cop car with a DOT inspector riding along pulls you over and looks at your headlights they are looking at the front of the light for a DOT stamp. If it does not have it there in plain visible sight then you will be given an inspection notice. Now obviously if you have a nice cop they might let you off but those are the rules. In Ontario I guess the rules are different, but thats just how BC is.

Do any of you guys who have HID set ups in your OEM projector style housings have any photos of what your aim, and cut off beams look like at night?
maybe it's the adjustment I have on my lights at the moment that are making me sway towards a retrofit.

The cutoff pic is not that good because the car is in the garage about six feet from the wall. This is only the drivers side as I have just finished it and am working on the other side. Don't be fooled by the blurriness in the center as the projector will focus a sharp line at twenty feet out. When I get the other one finished and the weather is ok I will take pics up against a building wall.

Well that looks pretty good, Craftz. Can I ask what HID set up you're going with??

Porsche bi-xenon projectors but the high beam capability has been removed because I had to cut away so much of the projector housing to make it fit into the headlight. Clear lens have also been added to take the place of the fresnel lens. Matsushita ballasts and Phillips DTS bulbs. If you go this way use a relay to supply power to ballasts.
