  • Coilover installation

Hey guys, so I just bought some tein flex coilovers and I'm having some trouble with the installation, I can't seem to get the front pair on because they do not have the lengh to be bolted up even when they are on highest setting...not sure but if anyone has a guide or some tips it would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Your control arm is hanging down. Get a jack and put it under and pump it up until you can get the bolts in.

      ^^^

Put a jack under the control arm, bolt on your shocks with the bottom bolt and slowly raise your control arm. Make sure you don't rub the threads on the holes & double check all torque specs. The shocks require very low torque settings compared to any other suspension component.

Adjusting suspension is pretty much trial and error. You start off with a default then you tweak it.

Personally I'd change all 4 corners first, then do the adjustments.

EDIT: MCM did a fairly good video on this if you like visual aids:

Be aware that new springs take a while to settle (could be a week or two of driving), so ride height will drop roughly 10mm or so (take that into account when adjusting ride height). Because of this drop in ride height, alignment needs to be redone.

Also monoque chassis are usually not square, so ride height would be different on each wheel (let alignment specialist adjust ride height) to get car to sit evenly. Should corner weight the car.

Also ride height can affect understeer, oversteer, etc. What ride height works on one car might not work on another.
