  • RB20DET intermittent stalling + hesitation

Since last pull with my car, when I press the throttle halfway + on boost, the engine hesitate...on fourth and fifth gear, the trouble is not so bad (even better when the engine is not 100% warmth) It seems like misfiring (strange sound, hesitation and around 13.8-14.1 A/F ratio)
It also got lean a few times when idling (16.1+)

    Also, happened 2 times randomly

I start the engine, all is good. Getting to grocery (engine is 100% warm'd up) stop the engine. Then when i get out after 5mins, I turn the key, reverse, the engine stall........I try to restart, crank but not able to restart.....I try a few times, and finally, it starts again!

Since then almost a month....I do not drive it, fearing to be in trouble

I cleaned the maf, open'd it to see the solderings, all is good. Changed the spark plugs too, coils wiring is new, bought it 2 years ago

    thanks!

If we are talking stock injectors on this engine. I would suspect failing fuel pump or coil packs/plugs.

Yeah, stock injectors + stock pump.

Not hardwired the pump yet, but I got all I need to do so

Intermittent stall can also be a maf related problem. Might want to open up the MAF and check the internal contacts are all good.

He said he did... I would start with checking FP , fpr , fuel quality (water). Change the fuel filter at all ?

            Update :

Changed fuel filter, fuel pump, fpr for a tomei, verified coilpack and taped them, gapped spark plugs around 0.75 and also changed air filter for a new one.

No more stalling, but still get some misfires at wot around 4500rpm, but it's better than it was.

A/F ratio is really good, around 14.7 on crusing and 11-11.5 at wot.

Don't really know what to test now :s
