  • rb25 no start

    Setup:
    rb25 series 2
    800cc sard injectors
AEM ems series 2, AIT, boost solenoid, wideband
    from facing intake mani
    stock turbo (for now)
wiring specialties wiring harness (RB25 to standalone)
    CAS with aem trigger wheel
    q45 TB /w q45 tps
    GM 3bar map sensor

I've been trying to fire this up for the past few days now and am trying to get more input on what's wrong or what i'm doing wrong.

I have a few small issues so far.
Right now my MAP sensor is only reading .14v but not showing a sensor error. I'm almost certain my MAP sensor is faulty as it shows -13psi when the engine is off. Also, pressure doesn't change when blowing into the hose that leads to it. Could this also possibly be a wiring issue?

Another issue I'm having is that the Stat Cranking seems to always be on and stat running turns on when cranking. I was told that stat cranking only turns on when you are cranking the engine and stat running when the engine fires up. totally lost on this one as i have no clue where to start.

On a positive note, i seem to be getting fuel and spark. I have a guess that my timing is off so i'm gonna double check the position of cylinder #1 so it matches up to TDC with my CAS.

Your RB/AEM Expertise is highly appreciated

Engine won't start if CAS settings are wrong.

Did you set the rising, falling edge settings, etc for CAS (rising, falling edge of the wave / signal the CAS produces)???

I can't remember which the Nissan CAS was, but AEM forum has the CAS info.

But you would think the ECU manufacturer would have set these correctly for you.

Hmm i do remember using the setup wizard to correctly identify which CAS to use. But no, i do not recall setting the rise/fall setting. I will check this out.

So i was doing my research and stumbled upon a screenshot of the CAS settings i'm supposed to change. I've set it up accordingly and still no start. Also noticed the other day that my Coil #1 isn't firing and the rest of them were. Anyone have a solution for this?

The ignitors are inbuilt into each coilpack on Series 2 R33 RB25DET and has the smaller ignition module on top of rear of engine. Would need to replace coilpack. If coilpack is not firing, spark plug tip goes black.

Will be Doing an ls2 coil swap over the weekend. If that doesn't fix that there must be something in the wiring harness or the ems settings. Also map sensor issue has been fixed, faulty gm map sensor switched with aem 3.5 map sensor

ls2 coil swap completed, had some promising sounds coming from the engine, sounded like it was about to fire and bam loud pop. engine wont turn/crank. pulled the plugs and found an exhaust valve sitting there in cylinder 6. I think its time to put this skyline project to an end. thanks for all the help/info but this thread is as good as dead. peace

                Sorry to hear.

That explains alot, cam timing must have been out, which probably would have put the CAS timing out.
