    $1000 for tickets....you scamp....lol.

Let me put this into perspective...

Just about every car show out there charges a min. of $20 with the exception of Revscene...and I mean a well organized full blown meet with consessions and various sponser booths. There is a cost to do a good show...and it has to be good for a sizable fee to be charged, so no serving burgers out of the back of a pickup. If there are food cart/trucks in the area (Kamloops is finally getting with the program on that) I'm sure they would love to make some money and get exposure...as an idea. The dyno time can still happen and personally I would love to have a crack at it to lay it all on the line....you can still do that for $80 on top of a paultry $15 entry fee.

I would definately make it all about the Sat portion of the meet...the Fri nite should be nothing more than a meet and greet for the travellers. Make a serious effort to get all of the locals out...I know there is a bunch of them and there should be no excuses. I wouldnt try and lay a smackdown show right off the hop, good shows take a while to build and your location and the fact that almost everyone in the west has heard of the Okanagan really helps.

I don't think there should be an entry fee higher than 10$ per car or 5$ person. That would more then cover the cost of a BBQ for everyone, and if you want other stuff, do exactly what everyone has said: bug the sponsors.
Every year for the last couple years, as a season opener for 780 tuners, we have been hosting at least 350+ cars for no cost and it is always great. BBQ is always pay as you eat, and this year we had food trucks show up. They charge what they want for food, and we as the attendees buy why we want to eat.
Meets run on volunteers, car shows run on money. Both are very different events.

I think this nails it. I will be driving my GTR from Vancouver to Chetwynd around that time and I've been considering just skipping it. The thing that bugged me the most was the talk of closing it off to anything non RB powered. I look at Skylines enough on the internet so it's always fun to see what other people have.

Here's my though on the event.
All of us Vancouver guys drive up on Friday, either after work or mid day if everyone can get off. Meet everyone on Friday hang out, hit the beach, get drunk, maybe hit a local pub or bar. Then Saturday go to classified and have the BBQ / dyno day and photo shoot, then go for a small cruise, then we can either head back home that evening or, if we're all not strapped for cash, stay another night.

Entry fee should be 10-20$ absolute tops, include BBQ, entry and SKYMEET stickers. All that other **** was useless.
Dyno pulls should be priced at $50 MAX. 2 pulls is plenty. Price it any higher and you should fully expect people to start loosing interest

Yeah, the $80/car is definitely a little steep for a couple pulls on the Dyno. Dyno days around here are generally in the $60 range.

Also, I don't mind paying a $20 entrance fee either but I don't think you should be expecting guys to fork out another 20-30 just to get their gf in...we could all go for a decent meal at that price point rather than getting burgers/hot dogs.

Now, now.....lets not get too cranky....

Let them mull it over and figure out what they want to handle for an event. I'm coming if I can get the time off regardless of what they end up doing.

Not to stir the pot anymore then it already is, but 2009 was an awesome Skymeet West. Mad hangs with bro's good cruise around the GVRD and hell we made it on to Google maps.

Said it on the GTRC facebook and I'll say it here,

Keep it simple. Big parking lot, maybe at a lake/beach bring a bbq and and charge $5 bucks a burger. When your bored of that go for a cruise and have some fun.

Good luck with the meet, I'll keep my eye on this and see what direction it heads.

We will decide soon if this year's Skymeet is feasible or not.

"Meets run on volunteers, car shows run on money. Both are very different events. "
                      Duh...

I wanted Skymeet West to be an event. With give-aways, trophies, competition, prizes, etc etc. If you all want a meet so badly and won't pay $30 (Less then this weekend alone for shows for me) than fine, I will make a meet and scrap the event.

Skymeet would be free to enter, with a $4 burger and $1 pop BBQ on Friday night and possibly Saturday night too. Veggie burgers too. Official Skymeet 2014 decals would also be available for purchase, which would be encouraged. Dyno is unknown for now, I would talk to the owner and see how he feels. Every dyno I have ever been to is $150 for three pulls, ours will be heavily discounted to a cost of $80 if the interest is there. The dyno would be opened to all cars, not just Skylines as there are some unique cars in the area. If we have 4+ cars committed to the dyno would probably do it.

I just wanted to have a fun meet and meet everyone in person and have a good time...

                      Stay tuned.

I'm all for keeping the plan laid out in the original thread. It's $30 for a weekend full of events with food, trophies, even a huge discount on a dyno. This is still way cheeper than a single friday night out of drinking.

Being the owner of the other shop in town I know what it takes to put on a event and what it costs. All the BBQ's we have held at FFA have been FREE in the hopes that some free will, will make you want to spend some money at a later date and normally we get 50+ people that show up. The dyno price is about right for a dyno day up here.

I hope it all works out for you guys.

                            Oh skymeets.

I think the idea is great but like everyone said prices are steep. Im more in it to drive, hang out with everyone and to get away from home for a weekend.

Why do we need trophies if only 10 skylines show up though. Consolation prizes? I honestly don't think the event is big enough to warrant that kind of thing.

Once there is a couple years of good turn out, and people know its going to be good, then we can start adding more costly events.
For now i say keep it cheap and simple.. hang out check out each others cars. eat some food etc.
