Well the point of the $30 is to offset the huge cost of organization, decals, food, shop time, dyno time etc etc.

How many would prefer the event to be free, $5 for a burger and pop, and have no trophies, no decals, sponsorship package or dyno?

It would literally just be a giant meet. Is this what people would prefer? At the end of the day, all im wanting is the Skyline community (And car enthusiasts in general), coming together and socializing and having a good time. Please tell me what you think. I just thought people wouldnt bother making the trip if it was just a big meeting in a parking lot. I was trying to make it into more of an 'event', but I will make it into whatever will yield the greatest attendance.

personally... the people who are going shouldnt have to offset anything...

if someone wants to go for the BBQ, etc they pay $20 for the food, entry fee etc... if those people dont want to do anything with the dyno, why are they being subject to "offset" the cost... again, this is a repeat of last year... thats why you are charging $80 or whatever for people to do a dyno pull... the people paying the $20 should not have to offset anything...

that $20 should give you food, entry to the friday night meet, saturday viewings, decals, and thats it... that is more then enough money to cover all of that.

Shop time and dyno time are all in the fees of people who want to do dyno pulls...

sorry to say this, but it seems to me like whoever is planning this, the shop or whatever, is trying to make a bit of a profit off this... that should not be the case... you should break even, if not be a little in the red... if this is put on by the shop, its great marketing and is a write off...

sorry for being a pain in the ass here but im just speaking my mind

I totally agree with the above. If you want a Skywest, find a parking lot and make it happen. It doesn't need to have a mandatory fee, especially per person.

The dyno is totally separate from the event. I have said that from the start. The dyno only effects people who actually want to use it at less than half price. If you dont want to dyno your car, you dont pay a cent towards that. Thats clearly laid out in the original post.

And to be clear, no, there is no money made from putting on this event. This is put on by an enthusiast and GTR owner for the enthusiasts. This is not put on but a shop, and especially not for profit.

$10 per car to pay for BBQ and decal, and $5 per passenger to pay for BBQ. All agree?
No Dyno, no sponsor package, no photographer, no trophies, and no give aways.

Is this what everyone would prefer?

Not trying to be a douche (even tho this is going to come off like it) but you are contradicting yourself...

I was simply saying that there is a lot more that goes into this than you think...

If you would all prefer a meet than an event then we will do that.

Indeed. I've never paid for a revscene meet and they have had some fantastic meets, DJ's, music, food, stickers, vendors, games etc... If people want those things (and they will) charge for them and make money (and you will).

Having said all that, if this is a 1st class meet with trophies and such. I'd have absolutely no problem with paying up to $20. Which is about the most I've ever paid to enter any car show.

You could always do something like $10 admission and food $30 to enter the show and shine (be eligible for trophies, photoshoot, so on) and then $whatever for the dyno pulls.

I feel this would get the most people out.. because its going to be a costly weekend.

$100 a night for Hotel (Unless Tims Cabin is available)

                      $50 in drinks?

I have to agree with everyone here. If you want an example of how to put on a huge event, look in to street machine weekend in Lethbridge. Thousands of cars show up and you only pay for the specific events you want to attend, like drag racing, autox, show and shine etc, plus for the entire weekend there is an incredible community of people cruising, participating in official events during the day and then some very unofficial racing late at night.

The town is literally a traffic jam of cool cars (including many 8 and 9 second street cars) Friday and Saturday evening and there are people sitting on chairs beside the road watching the entire spectacle.

For $30 at that event you get to enter both the 100' drag event (which is tons of fun) and the autox event plus do all the cruising etc you can handle. Also, it's the same weekend.

I don't think ditching the dyno shootout is necessary... just let the people who do it.. pay for it. They will. It was a cool part of the event a few years back.

Just a general consensus that people are spending their money to get and stay there... If you want prizes etc. Bug the site sponsors to back the event.

                            Say you have 20 cars.

2 people on average per car $60 per car.

                            That's $1200. For a BBQ?

Oh and shop time???? The shop is going to be closed they isnt loosing money for being open past thier business

                            Clearly someone is pocketing money.

Why don't people just show up and pay for things as they please? If you want a hot dog and a drink go up to the BBQ and buy one for $5. If they want decals, go and buy one or many for a few dollars. And have a dyno sign-up sheet clearly displayed so they can come and sign up if they want and pay. Same goes for the show, maybe even have a seperated parking area just for cars that have paid for the show so we can keep track.

I'll take a look at the schedule (it's family owned). If nobody is there for that weekend it shouldn't be a problem for me to host the people who are driving up.
