I can't believe how cheap they are.

starting from scratch:

BRAND NEW BLOCK (fully machined) $800
brand new performance heads $1200 (fully assembled, ready to bolt on)
forged pistons $600, forged rods $600, etc

I shoulda figured out how to attach an RB26 oil pan to one..........

Anyways, my point is this.. old muscle can be expensive (except chevy), but new muscle is cheap.

Yeah,I think thatyou may be right. Especially for the second generation (426 based) hemis! I just wanted what I had read about in mags and books all those years... now I just want what makes sense!
...and you CAN'T get the 528 for less than 20 something G, not at least when I was looking.

Is RHD so much more iffy that having similar power etc, but in a left hand drive setup?
I would think that getting a 300hp car as a first ride would be bad enough.
But is that RHD the bigger issue?
And won't the 4wd generally save looping it in corners over a 300ZX?

Yes, the AWD will help you get out of a slide, in fact my car drove itself out of a couple slides within the first couple days of me owning it. I take no credt for the brain cells that saved those situations. As it turns out, Skylines oversteer. Who knew?ops:

The problem with buying a Skyline as a first car is the same as using tires that are too sticky when you are trying to dial in the suspension: it puts the limits too far out there. Good tires mask bad setup and a good car will mask bad driving, at least for a while until he drives it off the road backwards.
