Unfortunately younger people think anything with a turbo = super car and they start driving like idiots. Its the Honda Civic syndrome all over again. Ironically enough here are two recent posts from another forum that perfectly illustrate that point. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with enjoying your car but you have to do it smartly.

I saw this behind me, this Grey GTR, was hauling ass on arthur laing going through the no 3 road exit and over steers into a ditch.

from what it looks like, the GTR driver turned into the corner going like 110ish and floored it after the apex and oversteered into the ditch and ripped it's front lip off.

          anyone else see this maniac?

i'm sorry i was slow to post but it happened a week and a half ago.

I've seen a Grey GTR at Lougheed / Sperling ripping it with a left hand turn. I thought he's a good drifter, but turn out that he over spinned it and went tail-in the street on sperling. Blocked off traffic behind him and he laughed it off. Revved it at Chevron when he met his buddy (with another grey GTR).
I believe the GTR i saw is from the GTR store on Lougheed/holdom area. I made sure that I'll report him next time if i see something like this
Your statement is a little overgeneralized, I'm 17 and own a pretty heavily modified 240 with an RB20 swap and I don't drive like an idiot. I know my car has a fair amount of power, it's not nearly the fastest thing out there and I know what my car can do, as long as I know what my car can do, that's good enough for me, showing off and risking your life or someone else's is both idiotic and against the law. I don't race people or drive like an idiot to show off. I'm very thankful and have worked very hard to build the car that I drive. With that said, I'd like to keep my car intact and not risk ruining it or hurting others or myself to "show off". If I ever want to go fast, I have no problem taking the car out to a track. I have good self control both on and off the streets, there have been countless amount of people that have tried to race me already this year (ironically enough, they were all Civics haha ) and I simply told them that it wasn't going to happen and to back off. There are extremely few 17 year olds that have the same frame of mind that I do, especially guys my age with sports/modified cars in their hands. For this reason I can't blame you entirely for saying what you said, but there are some level-headed younger teenagers with modified vehicles out there. I build my car for enjoyment for pure enjoyment, NOT to be a rebel or to be "the king of the streets", I'm a responsible and safe driver.

lol. right there is the problem. since there are such few good young drivers, people will always generalize you in that category.

I remember when I was 17 and always got all defensive when people made generalizations about young drivers. Sure I was a much better driver than A LOT of people I knew, but looking back now.. we've all been idiots (me included) more than once, and at 17.. even 18 are bound to do it again.

            • ARC240, I don't think anyone wants to point fingers at you. Just remember that if the shoe fits, wear it. If it doesn't fit, then keep driving like a mature person and do what you can to help change people's minds on young drivers.

              • I'm not saying that I feel offended or anything lol , I'm just saying that the statement is a little overgeneralized. I'm not upset at all, because like Falcon said: "since there are such few good young drivers, people will always generalize you in that category." I'm just providing an example saying that not ALL 17 year olds are bad drivers and/or power hungry. There still are some good ones.

                • this isn't an age vs responsibility thread, that's a never ending argument back to the noobie stories.

sooo... i was at a local bike shop picking up some parts. i noticed this guy was walking back to his GTR, now i know he was by himself but i watched him get into the passenger side, then realizing what he did, jump over to the otherside and drive off as normal. hahaha

oh right, the guy was me. It was the first time i had used my car for a normal shopping outting, i felt like a retard.

I do that every now and then when I drive LHD cars, since I very rarely drive anything but my skyline

                      • so today while i was playing some good ol Counter Strike, some guy pipes up about how my GTR sucks and is all slow... my screen name is GTR32 i own one... i have it like that because i usually play on american servers and it always is good for a chuckle or two...

so anyways, this guy starts talking smack tellin me how my car is slow and his is fast and this n that... so i ask him what his car is... he tells me a BMW 540i... i burst out the lol over and over again... hes all like "my car has 315rwhp stock"... i quickly alt-tab out and into wiki to double check... and i reply, "no it doesnt, you only have about 290 at the flywheel, and my GTR has over 350whp, plus its awd, and weighs about 400lbs less than your car"

then he pipes up, "well i could put a turbo on my car and get 400rwhp and over 400ftlb tq", my response"lol, ya you could but then all i would have to do is turn up the boost and i will have more hp and more tq than you, even though i wouldnt need to because my car is lighter than your car so the pwr/weight ratio is still greater"

then it got great, the guy starts gettin all lippy over the mic, and then says "ya but you paid like 100k for your car i paid 8k for mine", i then say "lol i only paid like 17k"

his response" you prolly bought it stolen"

at this point some other douche comes on and is all talking "whats everyone talking about? cars? i have a sweet car its better than all yours"

i respond "what do you have?" hes all proud over his mic "a BMW325i"

at that point i had to leave and come here and tell you all about it... since it was so funny.... half the people on the game were tellin the BMW guys to shut up so they could ask me questions since they are all from the states and all obviously are the type to drool and go "ohhhh skyline"
How many kids with A.D.D. does it take to screw in a light bulb?

                        • Wow, Americans are cocky about their cars. 90% of 'em probably believe people with Skylines bought 'em stolen and then proceed to drool about it... and they prolly drive the econobox BMWs...

                          • Bimmer's are nice solid cars, but they are not fast. They are geared high so they can eventually go fast on the highway...but geez, to call a big heavy german car fast is lol
