From what I understand, fuelmap goes I think was lean? in certain cells with upgraded MAF, so fuelmap needs to be retuned. Changing A/F ratio by a certain amount in some cases affects engine temperature, exhaust temperature, so ignition timing might need to be modifed to suit to bring down temperatures.

i was referring to keeping the stock MAF, just moving it down the intake tract. i can see why you need to retune when you go from 2 MAF to 1 MAF.

ohhh!!.. ya.. i understand now.. for example.. what if you put the maf's where the top "twin turbo" pipe is? and made some custom piece piping to accomodate it!?... would there be any advantages? drawbacks?

My bad, I didn't reread the post's before, where we were talking about heat and needing to retune ECU to suit the extra heat on intake plenum side of intercooler. ECU probably would need to be retuned, as airtemp is lower (might not be a lower air temp wise, if podfilter is exposed to heat from engine fan in engine bay) at podfilter vs higher on intake plenum side of intercooler.

With catchcan, MAF sensor probably wouldn't get coated in oil with blow through setup.

so how would you wire the single ford lightning maf for a dett? wouldnt the computer freak out if it was only getting one reading from the maf? or wire both together into one connector? and would it be best if it was before the ic or after?

One thing you're forgetting about MAF's is they do not like to be in any of the spots you're suggesting. Twin turbo pipe? Way too much turbulence, it's not going to run right.

Pro-M usually suggests having atleast 12-18" of straight pipe feeding into the maf to get rid of turbulence so that it will run right. There's more to getting it to work than just slapping a MAF in anywhere it would fit.

after the intercooler so it sees the colder air and makes a more accurate reading. and thats why you need to use RB25 standard ECU to tune with when running just one maf.

it works, ive seen it work, and it works well.

You can use a RB26 ECU on single MAF GTS engine. It just involves loading GTS maps onto RB26 ECU, joining 2x 02 sensor and 2x MAF signals together, so they send the same signal to RB26 ECU.

With single Ford Lightning MAF on RB26 ECU, it probably would need the 2 MAF wires / signals joined together.

if you just joined the two maf signal wires together, wouldnt that eliminate the need to go to a single turbo/maf ecu??

Yes. A mate did it with RB26 PowerFC ECU on a R34GTT RB25DET engine.
