So I've heard from a couple people that Desjardin will be dropping ALL RHD vehicles very soon, does anyone have any information on this? true ?not true?in the works?
best bet phone the company or email them and find out if they are dropping rhd vehicles
understeer -is when you go off the road and see the tree that kills you
oversteer-is when you go off the road backwards and dont see the tree that kills you
When I was shopping to insure mine a couple years back they didn't want anything to do with it back then, even though I already had another car insured with them for a couple years with no claims.

Everything is fine in Ontario. I called Desjardin to get a quote and they would insure me no problem but my premiums are still cheaper with my current company.
ok so heres the deal. AS of Nov 20, They will be legally aloud to deny rhd insurance, before they could not (no company can) anyways, so therefore they will not be taking new customers, i talked to the underwriters today(certas direct) as well and they asured me policy memebers with rhd cars will be grandfathered in ontario and will not lose their policy because of this. if anything changes they will give at least 90 days notice and it will not happend until 90 days before your renewal, mine just renewed so im good guaranteed until next october and for on. ALSO she read me a gov't document that will not be released until NOV 30, and it says "as of nov31 2011 Ontario government will not be registering or importing right hand drive vehicles, all previously imported vehicles that are registered before this date will continue to be street legal"
sooooo loooks like good bye to RHD importation in Ontario
I very much doubt that the Government of Ontario would ban RHD cars without giving any notice. Also, Nov. only has 30 days, not 31.
Sorry, but it sounds like another false rumour to me.

Well said Daryl.
The market for these cars seems to have set it's foot in Ontario. The number of people who have invested thousands of dollars in opening a dealership for RHD Imports is large, and to ban these cars would cause a huge crash for them and would most definitely affect others as well.

100% untrue insurance companies have always been able to deny insurance to any driver or car based on "risk". The only one that has to insure you regardless of car or record is Facility who is backed by the Ontario government because anyone who has a valid licence and legal car in Ontario must be able to obtain insurance (at sky high rates mind you)

Soooo much BS for the following reasons:
1. As Daryl said there are 30 days in November not 31.
2. The government would not release a major policy change document to private companies weeks before it is to be issued to the public.
3. Even if this had been released no broker would have seen it or read the letter to you over the phone.
Thanks to the mods for banning an obvious troll

Well, I don't want to burst anyones bubble, but here in quebec, they pretty much swipped the carpet underneath our feet pretty darn fast for this fu*** ban. There was rumor comming from the DMV ( SAAQ ) couple of weeks before this new law. The ones whom had licenced the cars before early 2009 could keep 'em. Governement always has their way. If they think it's ''dangerous'' and they will do anything to make it look like dangerous (like they did here).
