I've been told by my insurance company (Pentagon)that I will no longer have coverage as of January 1,2012. The rep also told me that Ontario will not be importing RHD cars after NOV, however who knows whether they are correct or not. Hope this guy was truly just an idiot and the rep i spoke to was too! lol
PS: I've heard of Right Drive, Ill be contacting you this week I need some suspension parts Noobie
Pete-R33 said the exact same thing as the OP, and he just joined in November also. Same troll? lolz

Speakin of American companies, I'm insured in Ontario under Haggerty, which is big in the US for specialized collector cars. I have a decent driving record and another car for DD duty. Full coverage for both my NSX and GTR is under $1K.
1K a year!? Jesus, Who's D do I have to touch to get rates like that. I know one thing is for sure. Once I finish my car I'm parking it for a long time. Until I'm eligible to get insured through a company like Lant... Facility isn't getting anymore of my hard earned money.
Dang! You got shocks, pegs... Lucky! You ever take it off any sweet jumps?
Insurance companies were not legally aloud to deny you of insurance, they had to provide it for you . Every company has access to Facility therefore they have to provide you insurance, I know this because when I moved back to Canada I worked for State Farm in Brampton for Abhijit Ghosh . The laws may have changed now though.
What year did you work for State Farm? This is certainly no longer the case.
Subcontracting insurance to Facility does not count as providing insurance, if true, they are merely acting as brokers and likely adding a profit margin for themselves. In that event wouldnt every company offer to provide you insurance for RHD at super high rates to keep your other insurance lines (other cars, house, etc) with them instead of denying you outright?
In essence what you are now saying is that Facility will not be providing insurance to RHD cars making them officially uninsurable. That flies directly in the face of what my broker told me that all drivers with a valid Ontario licence need to be able to obtain insurance. Facility fills the role of the high risk provider for those who still have a DUI on their record etc.

How dumb are you? Most companies are just merely a "broker" for an underwritten company. Before this took place a insurance company had to provide you insurance they have to offer to at least try facility . Facility is funded by the government and each company like state farm, intact etc etc have different amounts of accessibility with facility call drsjarding get a quote through facility it'd be say " 1100/year " now call state farm and get the same quote through facility and it could be " 1400/year" as each company is funded differently by facility so therefore you are wrong . Bottom line as of nov 20,2011 is insurance companies don't have to offer facility therefore it can become impossible unless you go straight to the source .Call a insurance company and ask if they cab deny any eligible driver in Canada let mr know how it goes over make sure before 20th tho ... Anyways writing long essay answers doesn't make YOU smart so dont do it

Pete, that is incorrect information. Desjardins has applied to not carry RHD insurance. Other companies have applied for said exclusions at other times, this is not a blanket exclusion from Nov. 20, it is only Desjardins.
I didn't mean any insurance sorry, I meant call Desjardin. It is however legal for a insurnace company to legally deny you of insurance now, which is was not in 2011. I don't no the exact date this took place. All I know is as of Nov 20,2011 Desjardin will no longer be insuring.

Over the top response with personal attacks in an attempt to evoke an emotional response from me. Classic troll behavior.

My friend just bought his RHD FD3S on Saturday and got insurance with Desjardin yesterday. He's from Sarnia and has full coverage for $2600 per year. He's 24.
