Polished and waxed mine for a shoot the other night.. she's good n slidey now!
The bugs still explode, however their organs enter a rift in space and transplant to any surrounding vehicle within a 17 foot radius.
If only I could say the same for my intercooler/oil cooler...

Process for my car tonight:

Interior:
- Full interior vacuuming
- Floor-mat wash and dry
- Dusting of all areas
- Interior cleaner on all non cloth surfaces
- Protect-ant sealer on all non cloth surfaces
- Windex all windows and mirrors interior side

Exterior:
- First wash and rinse
- Full body claybar
- Cleaning of all door jams
- Cleaning of trunk and hood jams
- Second wash and rinse
- Hand dry
- Full body polish with scratch remover
- Full body wax
- Full body quick wax
- Windex on all glass and mirrors

Wheels:
- Wash, scrub and rinse with cleaner
- Polish with scratch remover
- Chrome Polish the dish parts with drill and powerball
- Wax
- Quick wax

Just bring varsol. U can get ir from crappy tire. Takes off bug bladder all over the bumper. Just let it soak for a bit, scrub then wash. I use it all the time for work

Somehow I have a feeling it would be more like this:

Painters tape under the sun for 5 hours and on a steaming hot hood = cooked unremovable tape.

grab painters tape or a masking tape that wont leave any residue, and cover the lower 1/3rd of your hood + bumper. itll help immensely.

Yeah no point in washing the car beforehand it's gonna be splattered with bugs with the long ride ahead.

Franki there is one across the street but lowered cars of any kind cannot run through it.
There is a drive through touchless wash about 5 mins from the shop that we use and it works well. Not sure on any coin ops anywhere near our shop.
