I guess what I was getting at was, why wasn't your cage TIG welded?
If it doesn't NEED to be TIG'd, why would it be? MIG is cheaper, easier, and faster. A good quality MIG welder would do just fine for a mild-steel cage.
Oh no doubt. It's prettier IMO when done right. But to each their own.
I'm just saying that structurally... not a big deal. Although if I was welding tube to PLATE I would be using TIG.
i've not seen many mig welded cages. it must make it much easier to do in those tight spots. plus, you could probably do it in half the time it would take to tig it all together.
Nice cage, and I have seen quite a few as my good friend builds cages on the west coast. Oddly, not all motorsport bodys like TIG as it takes a different skill set that most home builders don't have. Mig is just easier.
