        Well first off, let me say, that i think the gtr is a better looking car, and i dont see anyreason why it wouldnt be faster than alot of porsche's around the ring, and infact i hate porsches except the carrera gt mind you.
        I have not heard the most recent knews that the nissan has displayed the tires they used, as midterms have just finished and ive been busy living real life and havent had time to surf the interweb for car news.
        But my view stays the same. you capitolized "YOU" when i was saying that i thought it wasnt a supercar, well, its the same people calling this car a supercar that called the r32's that we all drive around super cars, im sorry, thier not.
        First of all, who would have thought that GTRCANADA would have some passionate gtr lovers?

        Secondly, perhaps you should look at which cars were around in 1989 when it was released. The technology put into the gtr was incredible for 1989, not to mention the potential of the new rb26.
        The gtr has never been a supercar in the sense that it looks like a rocketship with wings and possibly lazers that pop out. Its been a supercar in the sense that it does its job while still being a street car that can seat more than 2 people, is easy to drive everyday and be a reliable daily driver. Furthermore the actual price point of the gtr puts it way below any of the other cars that perform to similar standards.
        I've noticed that people have been popping up complaining about them breaking thier cars and nissan refusing to fix them for free due to abuse.
        I'm surprised that some people still get away with free fixes after they've abused the vehicle to be honest.

            why don't you guys just stop the bickering and wait until Nissan goes back to the Ring this month, and prove their claims in front of Porsche and all media?

            btw...their aim for their BASE GTR is 7:24.

              I personally don't see there even being an argument based on one major factor.
              Porsche gt2 = MSRP $ 194,000.00 USD
              2009 GTR Premium = MSRP $ 79,090 USD

              There is video evidence of the 7:29 lap (you can watch it for yourself)
              Factory nissan driver that drives the gtr to its utmost limits constantly will obviously post blazing laptimes.
              Also driving a Porsche and driving a GTR are two very different things, why Porsche expected to push a GTR to its limits or even close to it with a Porsche factory driver is a bit arrogant. In fact they didn't even come close to the 7:38 time that they posted while the GTR was still in testing either.

              Fact of the matter is, since the 240z Nissan has had their guns pointed in Porsche's direction, their reaction is not one you'd expect from a manufacturer who only deals in high end vehicles though.

                hmm lets say both cars are pretty much even, cause in reality all these tests being done are pretty close.

                gtr = 79 thou
                gt2 = 194 thou

                now imagine a GTR with 115 grand spent on it to even up the price.......... WIN!!!!!

                  True

                  But isnt nissan going to bump the prive well over 100k pretty soon?
                  Iether way, yes. there is a very large price difference.

                  But back to the magazine report, Im with whats his face
                  I dont understand how 7:29 can be done by that thing...

                    LOL.

                    First, video evidence means ****, they never claimed the car isnt physically capable, they simply stated the car wasnt in factory trim when it recorded the laptime.

                    Price difference? No one was argueing car for your $$$. We get the porche costs way more. In comparison ill be the Ferarri Enzo doesnt perform $900,000 better then the corvette ZR1, but that doesnt make the Enzo any lesser of a car.

                    When it comes down to it, porche is a well respected, supercar brand. Nissan is....nissan. Just a car company.

                    The Corvette ZR1 beats the **** out of the GT-R in a ton of ways, Engine power, braking performance, driveline design, etc etc. It carries the same front brakes as a Bugatti Veyron, and the its rear brakes are on the front of a Enzo. But in the end its manufactured by a regular automotive company, and is $119k base. If it were bodied by Lamborgini, with identical parts, it would be a $500+K car. Same as if the GT-R was bodied by Ferrari but otherwise identical, it'd be a $500+K car.

                    If we REALLY want to get into Nürburgring supremacy;

                    Today, the 2009 Corvette ZR1 officially stepped up the global war for Nürburgring supremacy, as General Motors development engineer Jim Mero drove a stock ZR1 around the Nürburgring in a time of 7:26.4. That's significantly faster than the 7:29 lap set by the Nissan GT-R. We can't wait to see what the rest of the…

                    The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 beats both. And the lap time was recorded by a development engineer!

                          you'll see soon. They (GTR base and Spec-V) have been spotted yesterday at the ring.

                          It's go time.

                              I don't think the SpecV will do too much better than the claimed base model time. They shaved, what, 300lbs from it? And bumped the HP up 5ish? The upgraded brakes make up the bulk of the price premium. The awesome paint job won't make it faster, as much as I wish it did. I would estimate 7:22-7:28..

                              The aftermarket has produced faster R35's, for less money to boot.

                                Well if the 150Kg is correct then it is 330 pounds. Which is quite a bit of weight. As for power people are saying anywhere from 500-550.

                                So if the stock GTR did run 7:29 the VSPEC should be quite a bit faster.
