Magnus Motorsports in Woodbridge has been puting PPG dog boxes in their drag Mitsubishis for years. They deal PPG as well.
And I don't think the guts are $10K at all more like $4000ish. Which I should have considered instead of rebuilding my transmission back in the day for like $3K :-(
But it was still a street car.
But RB26 trannies are so cheap...just buy more, thats like 10 transmissions! LOL
if i was going dog box i would go all out...however i doubt ill EVER need a dog box, driving it daily i think would be a waste...
what ill do is either get a R34 GTR tranny...much straonger, and better attesa system!!

The transfer case is arguably of lower quality, smaller chain.
People also break r34 tranny's all the time, regardless if the v160 holds 1000+ in supra's, it doesn't with the transfer case bolted on as has been found out many times over.
Going all out on a dog box would be picking up something like a Hollinger, Jerico, Liberty etc. Not a gear set.
I've heard that the Hollinger units aren't too strong. Not sure whether the person was referring to the case, gears, forks or shafts... but a local rally shop told me a while back that they were having issues with them. Could all be ******** though.
While on the topic of boxes... have you ever heard of the "W-Gate" box by Weismann? I came across it a long time ago on HRP-World and thought it was a neat idea. Basically a normal gearbox but with a "W" shift pattern instead of an "H"

Hmm interesting input mcfly...i usually take your recommendations to heart so i guess there will be no R34 tranny, and i will eventually push a full on dog box into my underbelly...

So do you guys beat on your cars so often and so hard that you require a transmission like that? And does your engine make so much power that your GT-R's transmission is guaranteed to fail?
I'm not making a smart @ss comment or anything, but I'm just wondering if this tranny upgrade really is a sensible one!
I'm quite happy with my OEM tranny, and with my relatively modest HP goals I have for my engine (400hp) I'm quite confident that my stock tranny can hold it! Even if I would track my car once in a while!
I couldn't imagine driving a car with a dogbox and twin plate clutch for that matter in Tokyo, or any cities!
I don't know, sounds like a lot of money and a lot of hassle for not that much rewards! Or mabe you guys are doing for show!
