Registered Nurse, working at a brand new hospital in Abbotsford - specialized in ER nursing. I like it because it's always different, and I can work as much OT as I want...not to mention paid holidays, sick days, funding for further education, and full health coverage
We have a "mechanic" at our shop. I'm using that word very loosely. He used to work on the street and now he's an old crabass so they pay him to change lightbulbs on trucks.
Oh, and he tried to fix the signal lights in one of our trucks. He got them to work again, except the horn stopped working. When you pressed the horn button all the running lights turned on, on the outside of the truck. Same thing happened when you flicked the headlight switch on. Except that the headlights didn't actually turn on when you turned on the switch.
It's a joke, he had to send a truck out to Penske just to have them change a fuel level sender.

We have every Brinks unit come in for service after every 3 months.. they're maintained allright but the heavy body they make to bullet proof everything is way too heavy for the suspension.. so they bang up pretty quickly. and on another note International's are junk. lol for your horn story.. everything goes through the ecms on newer trucks so some crabass is not smart enogh to fix that kind of stuff..

Wow, that's not bad! Ours go into the shop when they have problems, and that's it. Some of the newer trucks are still pretty good when they get the bigger 400-series trucks built off the longer wheelbase 4900 series, but everything in the shop gets the **** beat out of them. The new 400's are on average running/driven for 21 hours a day, they'll go out on a 13 hour day shift and then an 8 hour night shift, 5 days a week.
We have a few 2004 trucks with 800+ thousand KM's on them and nobody here looks after them. I know one guy who does a 2000 RPM neutral drop every time he puts the truck into gear. The truck in that picture is a 2005 and it's the oldest one not to have a new transmission.
I keep saying they should either just buy 400's or move to freightliners, but they don't listen. They've been seriously considering having an armoured body put on those dodge sprinter vans to reduce maintainance and fuel costs. Yeah, sorry, but I don't want to **** around in a light little van that doesn't even have enough protection to stop rifle rounds.
