+1 On this. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE DO THIS if you are not going to vote.

We have the largest deficit in Canadian history, because of the spend spend spend Harper Conservatives. Harper's Cons are NOT fiscally conservative. I will repeat, they are NOT fiscally conservative. They are slimy to wear the "conservative" name but their actions do not fit with their actions. If you're old enough to remember the Reform party, that is what they are. Look beyond the partisan party line & compare the facts. The Liberals gave us a $16 BILLION SURPLUS. That was "rainy day" money. And where did it go? Harper spent it all in a little over a year. Once again, this was BEFORE the recession even hit.

If you are hating on the Liberals for being "tax, spend (and save)", you should realize that Harper's method of "borrow (at high interest) and spend" is much worse. Canada now has a structural deficit BECAUSE of Harper. If he gets a majority govt, this spending will continue until Canada is in the same place as the US is now. This is his plan. Is that something you want to happen? Throughout Canadian history, Conservative govt's have raked up the deficits, while the Liberals are forced to clean up the mess. And so they raise taxes (slightly), tighten finances & are forced to cut funding. Harper cuts funding from social programs & taxes income trusts to give more money to his Big Business buddies. And if he continues spending the first thing to go will be healthcare. So that 30% tax you pay now? Add whatever health costs you may have to that.

Also, cutting corporate tax rates does not promote business, it does not create more jobs & it does not strengthen the industry. Look at Ireland for an example of what happens when you bottom out corporate tax rates (hint: it isn't pretty). Harper is a slave to Big Oil+Big Business at no benefit to the tax payer.

Okay, sponsorship scandal. 14 Million dollar scam at the hands of the Liberals. Horrid! Terrible! And they lost their power as a punishment for that.
To compare, the Conservatives spent $133 MILLION in partisan advertising in one year. Yes, taxpayer money. What about Tony Clement's G8 spending scandal? $50 Million there. Or what about the $1.9 Billion for the G20? I could go on, but I have a feeling I should keep it short so you can understand that compared to the other options, Harper's Cons are the ONLY evil.

(ps: I have links, articles, etc. to back up all of these points, if you'd like to see them just let me know).

The reason for the massive defecit at the moment is because of all the stimulus packages that have been implemented to cushion Canada's unemployment and the effects of the recession which is a world wide recession not a canadian government problem , please do not blame the conservatives for this, and Harper also made it known that the spending would cause this deficit , it's not a surprise.

As for the backgorund of the party members , i don't give a crap what their background is along as they can do the job , and to be honest for the job they have to do , loss of personal privacy and the amount of crap that politicians get blamed for by uneducated people , they don't in my opinion get paid enough. If the position of PM paid $3m- $4m a year you would get someone like Dave Dodge or someone else with his abilities to run the country.

BUT ya know the old saying , if you pay peanuts you get monkeys!

And like others have said , forcing a general election at the moment wasn't the most optimal thing to do , and it has wasted far more money than the G20 summit. Who do you have to blame for this ? thats right , the liberals - same guys that decided to go ahead and implement HST in a way that totally screwed over the average Joe in Ontario . McGuinty is hated so much for that reason alone.

What about the fail that was the gun registry? All it did was cost Canadians money Yet after billions spent, there is still nothing to show for it? Which was implemented by Chretien and the liberals.

Speaking of Chretien, he blew through money like it was falling off tree's

In fact if you go back even further, starting with Trudeau, the liberals are notorious for spending.

As far as I know most of the accusations against the Harper government were not printed either.

The sponsorship scandal investigation commission had a cost of 14 million...just the commission to look into the waste of public funds. I would dare to speculate that the actual numbers are in the hundreds of millions, it claims 3 million but who knows?
Let's not forget when the Liberals cancelled that military order for helicopters. Only cost us something around $500 mil. in cancellation fees. They want to do that now too with the new F35s we need. Yes need. CF18s are fantastic, but the airframe is ridiculously old, and needs replacing. It's far more expensive to maintain them...

But hey, why not cancel the order and pay a few billion, right?

my party no longer exists so i have no one to vote for...

before the reform and pc party merged to form the modern day con's the pc on paper had the best plan... move foreward but do so carefully, conservatively...

while i support crime fighting, many of todays laws or by laws are not representative of todays times, look at marijuana laws as an example... and its no wonder that the conservatives want to build super huge prisons...

every level of gov't is grossly out of touch with what the populace wants... recently in my local area we held a vote regarding building a new arena to accomidate our local hockey teams(i live in the koots no jr a team in my town, only jr b) the vote was NO with 80% of voters voting no, our city council was completly astonished...

when gov;t workers are being paid ALOT its not right, why should they make more money becuase they are working for the gov't? why not just pay them what everyone else in there respective feild gets(i know some jobs make -/+ but most make more alot more) and then give those people a tax break for serving our country...

as for people who are higher up, senate, parliament, etc etc they all need to make ALOT less, they make enough money they dont care about issues, long ago are the times that people ran for office to make things better for the people, along the way those people who were supposed to make things better for everyone ended up skiming from the top and made things really good for themselves...

cut backs need to be made, but it isnt to our services... no its needing to be made to our public servants wages... we elect these people, right now we are interviewing them seeing who is best for the job, we are the employers who employ the harpers, the ignatiefs the laytons... the job we are hiring for isnt easy, it takes alot of gumption to try and run a country... i for one am sick of it... there is more banter about him and her and this and that than there is about credentials... i want transparency, i want answers, and accountability...

who am i gonna vote for?

no damn clue... maybe i will toss the vote away at the communist party again like last time... he was a mere 6000 votes shy of getting a seat, he came in 3rd in my area it was ndp con comm then lib and green... my vote wont mater much anyways this area is and always has been NDP...

they really need to add " i vote for no one as there is no one i have confidence in"

Supposedly it was 3.75 million but they had to pay back 1 million. Who knows if more of this went on in the past undetected. Im not a Conservative drum thumper by any means. I actually vote Liberal provincially because the Albertan Tories have been in power for 40 years (like federal Grits) and think they can do whatever they wish without consequence.

I'm thinking a little more than 3 mill! That's why I'm so mad! There are only very few benefits of being under the Canadian government and mainly it's our health system. Other than that I can't agree with much. I doubt I'll ever vote again

NDP is a terrible vote in my opinion unless you live off of government aid programs. NDP is Canada's answer to communism/socialism with social programs out the arse, the only problem is that those programs cost big money. I think the 30% tax I pay already is plenty enough but if the NDP were in power I could see that going up to 40% or more, screw that.
The Liberals are the typical spend spend spend party. Sure they wont raise taxes "too" much but they also dont save any rainy day money with all that spending they do. The last time they were in power they pissed away million's of dollars advertising their party in Quebec. With the economy being so fragile right now, spending excessively seems very short sighted.
The Conversatives are the corporate tax break giving tight wads. They help promote business by catering to them but also reign in spending to help boost our coffers. They usually lower or keep taxes the status quo but cut funding to social programs. Given the uncertainty of our markets Id rather have a party in power who is saving for tomorrow then one that is spending for today.
