I don't classify 10 cars moving about from lane to lane and honking on it a little from time to time "racing". WAY to many people class any driving over and above driving like it's Sunday, in a group, as "street racing", which is why some douche phoned in a complaint. The cops had NOTHING other than the cars were all in a group, sounds like any Skyline cruise to me.

I like how in the TV interview the cop said that he could very well permanently confiscate the cars, but won't in this case. That's because they had no grounds what so ever to do so, he was just putting on a good show for the media. The whole thing is BS and a total publicity stunt.

BTW totally agree with you Dragon Humper

Only in Canada can a guy driving a little fast for a short amount of time be treated worst than a drunk driver. (the drunk driver obviously was driving drunk the whole time) Oh wait speed kills, right, keep telling yourself that.

Make's me sick how every one just jumped on the cops side just because there young and have nice cars. It still doesn't excuse the fact that all they seam to have is circumstantial evidence, and every body is SUPPOSE to be innocent until proven guilty. After all where in a English system not the screwed up French one.

Terrh,Jon, and colletor240 all valid points I have to side with you guys in this one. In any situation that has potential to make the police look like heroes they will pounce on it. We are talking about milliOns of dollars worth of exotic cars driving around with perhaps teenagers behind the wheel - maybe the gave it a couple squirts maybe they were driving the speed limit but in a low gear and really letting the motor sing ? Either way we don't know so in all honesty the cops don't have a case here and we all know if these kids are driving these cars it's a safe presumption that the lawyers their parents have on a retainer would make the Vancouver police force look like mall cops by the time the finished with them. Maybe they are grasping as straws to redeem some dignity and respect from dropping the ball so bad on the rioters that they needed to draw attention to street racing to show the public they are making a difference ? We all have our own opinions on the matter but il bet my bottom dollar that if the circumstances posted in the article are indeed correct that these kids will be driving their cars home without even so much as probation by the end of the month.

Apparrently 2 other bozos got busted going up to Cypress this morning. These guys were really pushing it, givin' er for extended periods of time and flying through residential neighborhoods.......that, I don't approve of. Ripping it up a little on a divided hi-way is one thing (safe as it gets) but doing 140km/h in a 60 zone where kids play is beyond not cool.

I have as much fun as I can get away with but that was really stupid.......and in no way connects to the Skyline community, so everyone chill.

Also if this was 4 kids driving sunfires, cavaliers, and a ford topaz all with fart cans on them and they got busted switching lanes fast and maybe over taking a few cars on the hwy do you think it would have made the news ?

^ that's the kind of stuff we have to deal with in Saskatchewan.
As for those wealthy teens, there has to be many different stories from each one of the drivers. I think we can all agree that some of them had to have been driving like idiots, maybe not all of them but some. When's the last time you saw a lamborghini rip by and your first thought was to call the police? No you sit there and say, "damn that's a nice lambo"

Wow, the comments section on Autoblog heating is up. Some dude called out the R8 driver Matt Zhang directly and pointed out how he was being a ******** on Revscene.

Anyone in Vancity know this Matt Zhang?

This is kinda funny , the cars cops get to drive wouldn't actually be able to catch one of these in the act if the driver kept his cool and was at least half competant.

It's a credit to the drivers that they actually stopped for the cops . I'm pretty sure when I was that age I wouldn't have LOL .

I don't like the fact that the police just confiscated their property based on a hear-say (imagine, this can happen to you and your buddies too)

I talked to Matt Zhang @ trackday here locally. He had more money than skills, got two black flags and was driving slower than a 5000 dollar beater in the same driver class as him (novice).

He also talked like a tool, bragging about his V8 R8 (haha should have asked the parents for a V10) and a direct quotation, "only 50 grand in mods".

Lol only 50k in mods, I honestly wonder though what you could do to an Audi R8 in the tuning sense?

This exact same thing happened a few years ago on the drive from Mission to Coquitlam with the Skyline group on our way to watch F&F 3 or 4 I forget. Anyways, I was in Zulu`s GTR and we were blocked coming through Coquitlam by a **** cop. He said they had someone call in saying we were racing (there was about 8 or 9 Skylines in a convoy on the number 1). There was no racing going on but the cop was acting all high an mighty, yelling and saying how he was going to suspend everyone licenses and ticket us for street racing.

Ever since that date I don`t believe **** all the cops do in regards to racing anymore. One person should not be able to call in and complain when a few loud cars drive by them doing 100 while they are doing 80 in a 100 zone and call it racing. At the end of the day with a lot of denial and sweet talking we were on our way.

Yeah unfortunately. Look at the window of his car. See the `C7`... yeah that`s our UBCSCC Mission Trackday stickers. That track day was almost a month ago but I guess he wanted to look cool to his friends showing the numbers on the car still.

They were no in neighborhoods. Another great media spin. They were on Cypress Bowl road. A mountain highway where I`ll admit I`ve done well over 200 in the past on a motorcycle (in my stupider days). The road is dead. You will rarely see any cars up there at the time of day there were on it. 140kph on Cypress is like walking.

I caught the end of this whole thing last night on the news. The Vanvouver police dept are already trying to make themselves out to be victims because less then 48 hours later they legally had to return over half of the cars to their owners. The spokesman for the authorities basically said they dont have much of a case and that the parents of the drivers are pursueing legal action. He was quiet concerned as he said almost $300,000 worth of tax payers money (thats to you BC residents) would be wasted if they go through with it. And that's just the beginning, depending on how long this ordeal ties up the legal system that figure could double. Talk about publically dropping the ball again, first was the riots then this. What next senior citizens shoplifting vegetables from Safeway ?

Yea, it's been forever since I have been anywhere near there, couldn't remember the road much. Serves me right for believing the media when they said "residential 60 zone". If they were in no-man's land, that's not nearly so bad. I think they should have 2 types of tickets, one for when you are alone and one for when there are "children present on the highway", you know, like the school zone signs on provicial hiways. If you are busted when you are completely alone on a deserted patch of road the fine should be 1/3 of what it would be if there was other traffic present.

I did my high speed testing on #1 east of Kamloops, but at 4am with not a soul in sight for 10km in either direction. If you want to have some serious fun, that is one of the sacrifices you need to make.
