  • Should I blow the whistle on this guy or not?

    Hello,

It has been an utterly depressing year and a half for me. Some of you know of my situation where I had given money to a fellow member here (from BC) and had bought his GTR. He had promised to ship it last year in April, but then backed out because he said he didnt have the money to ship it. He gave me the option to either wait or he would refund me the money. I decided to get my money back because it had stretched far beyond the 6 months he had asked for. Every single month for the last 1+ year, I communicated with him. But it was one excuse after another. He did give me $900 back out of the $4200 he owed me, but then earlier this year, he said he had lost his business and lost work. He said he couldnt pay me back until he got some money from the insurance (apparently he had an accident due to which he couldnt work for a couple of weeks). He promised that he would pay me back, but this was over 4 months ago.

My only contact with him was through Facebook, but then in April, he blocked me on Facebook as well.

Now I have no way of knowing his whereabouts. All I know is that he is still very much active in BC and his city, and is going about his life merrily as if nothing has happened.

My childhood best friend (who i served in the military with) is in the police and he has given me the option that this seems like a case of criminal fraud. He has asked me to press charges and he will be dealt with through the RCMP in BC. I am weighing my options. I have no contact information for him, except maybe an email address. I know he is active on certain forums and want to really bring his identity out in the open for all to see. But I am holding off.

Do you guys think I shoudl reveal who he is and post it all over the internet so he realizes what he has done?

Some of you know who he is, as you have come forth with similar stories of dealing with him and his shop (which closed down and perhaps still owes money and parts to some people). What do people think?

Not having a Skyline is one thing and it alone is utterly demoralizing. But I lost my job last year. I was given eviction notices three times in the last one year because I didnt have any savings left to bide my time while I searched for a job. My local friends helped me through it, but this guy seems to have no morality.

What should I do? Should I post his name and his actions openly on the internet? I have proof of all the communication we had on Facebook and documentary proof that he received the money from me. I am willing to share it all here and on all the other BC forums that he is on. But it would be wiser to get some other people's perspective on this.

    Thanks, all.

I would definitely do it, the reason i say is because there are lots of idiots out there taking advantage of good honest ppl all the time and never any justice seems to come of it. I speak from experience as just after high school i was scammed 5000$ for a supra a was looking to buy. This was on of those ebay/kijiji/etc scams. I went to the police, tried all possible ways to get anything back or even anyone to look into deeper and nothing came of it. If you can actually get something back then for sure. I ended have to suck it up, pay back the money and start saving all over again to finally purchase my skyline. I learned my lesson, but i really hope you can get back what is yours.

You should press charges if it helps, and you should let loose of his name so no one else will fall into his fraudulant actions. The chances of you getting your money back is slim to none. If he doesn't have it, how can he pay you...secondly, unless you are willing to waste more time and money and bring him to small claims, its not even worth it at the end of the day. I once brough someone to small claims for 4k, and i did it for the principle, i ended up spending 2 years going in and out of court through settlement and hiring lawyers at 500 per hour. End of the day, i won my case and paid the lawyer 3500 of the money i got back.... the best thing to do is let others know who he is, and take your loses.

Dont even want to get into it again, because thats exactly what i wanted to know. someone obviously had to claim the money right?...anyway, OPP said they couldnt do much but give me a couple numbers to call, called one place several times while waiting on the line for like 45 mins at a time to never actually get through, other place said they couldnt really help...

but anyway, ive got my skyline now so thats all that matters

Youve been a lot more patient than i would have been lol. I definatly think you should expose him! Think about it, obviously this guy is a pathalogical crook. If someone had called him out publicly before you dealt with him you more than likely would never have dealt with him and you would still have your money. Do you know if he still has the car?
I canz take this corner at 195k cause i gots AWDZ. Get real.

Like Rides said, getting into court in & out for a year isn't a funny thing to end up without your money back. I also think, if you wanna do it, do it for principles... Laws protect crooks! But tell everybody who he is!!
