Clarify there, if something happens while you're driving, they will terminate your policy because youre not 10yrs experienced (I think...)

I called state farm and their willing to put a GTR under classic and only cover 3rd party. This does not include theft, fire, recovery, etc. It only covers if someone hits you and costs less then $200 a month. But if you want full coverage, it was $640 a month for me. I'm just not meant to get a skyline lol

Like one of the poster said, Insurance = legalized rape. Hopefully things will change in future --> look forward to March
Basically they called my broker asked for insurance and they said no. They then proceeded to go well kyle has insurance with you and that is how his car is. I think you can tell the rest of the story.
Sadly because of this I don`t give out my new insurance company.

Originally posted by Oakville View PostI think the one constant in all of this is loyalty. If you've been with a company for x amount of years and youve been loyal to them, theyve been loyal to you, they should insure it. Let them know that you will go where the car is insurable, 9 times out of 10, they will work with you.
With that said, I think it has to be done in context. If you've been with a company for a year or two I doubt it will have any affect. My family is coming up on its 24th year with Allstate, so that I hope will make some impact.

Some of it was timing, some of it is luck. I started off paying 380 a month. I was fortunate that it only took me 3 months to find insurance elsewhere (in fact I'm paying less now then I was paying for my Le Sabre). A lot of it was just talking and asking around.
But knowing the guys at RightDrive, I'm sure whatever their doing, its going to be a great push in the right direction.

+1 as well. Something like this will make or break our chances of driving before we are retired

Ill post up a link to our review when it is published. Hopefully it opens some eyes and grabs the attention of some insurers.

Ive been asked to keep things between our staff for now as we are working out things with various insurers. I have to respect the bosses wishes.
If we do our job well then in March big things could happen with RHD insurance across the board, but for now, everything is hush hush and for just cause.
Many people on this board and other boards will tell you Ive contributed on a personal level in pm's to many insurance questions over the years, there is no denying this.
What many poeople dont realize is that we dont have the magic solution. We are not hoarding one special insurer for ourselves that no one knows about. Every customer we have who cant get insurance, we personally fight for. Our sales staff call their insurance company and others and we dont stop until we get them a reasonable rate. Its not that we tell them go to XYZ company and everything is fine. We actually do all the heavy lifting for them.
We have been successful at netting policies with companies that have outright refused to insure rhd vehicles. Its all about knowing how to approach the situation. What we have become good at is learning how to deal with each situation on a case by case basis. If we had the stand alone answer, I wouldnt be paying facility insurance rates.
As for whats going on in March, ive been asked to keep it hush. What I can say is that we will have a big voice in front of ALL the insurance companies in Canada as to why RHD's are not dangerous and why insurers should take on rhd business. This is not just for us. This is for everyone coast to coast.
Please do not be so quick to reserve judgement. We understand fully that if insurance is manageable that the entire industry, especially in Ontario, will grow and that our company will grow with it.Last edited by Matty; 01-21-2011, 01:36 AM.
