Thats how they get their coverage. Facility is the end of the line, since you cant be denied insurance in ontario, facility picks up the high risk of the high risk drivers, usually for 10k annual premiums. owners of RHD cars fall under this category unfortunately

700+ monthly? wow.. It breaks my heart to know that. I can't afford to have a skyline if that's the insurance rate..

Well, called a broker out of Paris, Ont. and she was gonna check a few companies that she knew did RHD (her son had an RX7). The one company did do RHD (the other two didn't) but the Skyline itself was a "restricted vehicle"? That confused me. Apparently RX7's are cool, but not GTR's. Ah well. My search continues!

just letting you know johnny, i bought my r33 this past march and had it insured through facility this summer and i had to get an appraisal done as well, so i would say that yes they probably changed there practices. right now i currently only have fire/theft on it for the winter months cuz theres no way id be paying 450/mth to have the car sit in my yard...dont know how its gonna work come renewal though, ill see come spring.

Urg. This is not cool. We definitely need someplace that's willing to insure RHD at a decent price.

I talked with reps from both the Insurance Board of Ontario and the Ontario Business Bureau (or whatever it's called), and found that underwriters do not need to give any reasons or justifications for denying insurance, only that the restrictions have been submitted to the Board and are consistent for their customer base. Seems they are all following suit, leaving few options for us left.

I talked with my broker again today, and she said she had never seen Facility ask for an appraisal before renewing, and that it might be a recent change in their practices. Oh well...Bramhall Appraisals will come to my house and do it for $60. Luckily I haven't done much to the car yet so changes won't show up, unless they ask for a re-appraisal each year.

We need to lobby against them. This is car-ism.
