In the eyes of Ontario insurance companies, you have the right to insurance. It doesn't have to be affordable. I completely disagree with this but thats the way of the road.

I dont understand why you guys are paying so much. I have my Skyline insured on classic car insurance for $700/year and they know full well it is RHD and arent too concerned. They have pictures of it and have since I bought it 4 years ago and it didnt bother them then either. I also have an LS430 which I pay a little under $400 month for on regular insurance and 92 Range Rover that I only insure in summer months for under $200/month. I am 20 years old with no tickets or accidents and have been driving since 16.

How'd you manage the classic car insurance on the Skyline? Every place I've looked at with that option has wanted 10 yrs. driving experience at least :S

Classic car isn't too bad, just need to be over 25 years old, have 10years+ driving and have a clean record.
Also your car has to be appraised and most companies will not touch modified cars. I have a tentitive quote right now for $965/year. But I have to swap my 4inch exhaust to stock for an apparaisal lol.

And if you switch your exhaust back to your 4" one after the appraisal, or make any other modifications and don't declare them, you are in breach of contract and the insurance provider is a) free to deny any claim you make, and b) cancel your insurance at any time. You might also be at risk of being liable to compensate OHIP should anyone else be hurt in an accident. (OHIP has subrogation rights, meaning certain health care costs can be recovered from your insurance company).

Doesn't Classic Car insurance also have a maximum mileage/yr requirement, something like 3,000km?

I talked to Desjardins a little while ago. It's liability only. So just the stuff to keep you driving, but doesn't cover fire/theft/you hitting stuff. Only if you get hit.

The one I got from RightDrives resource section - dont recall the exact name of the section but North York insurance was listed. When I first got insurance, I got it through them. I had spoken with Amy So (very nice lady).

someone elaborate on the collector car policy with less than 10yrs driving experience. Everyone Ive seen needs 10 years, as well as a 5000km a year cap and near oem condition.

                                Hey guys
I know I will sound like the bad guy here but we are no longer disclosing insurance info to non clients. We have spent the last few months working very hard with insurance companies and continue to do so. It has become a trade secret and a competitive advantage of sorts.

My personal Supra is insured through facility. Thats about the only advice I can give.
