I'm with Lant and have liked them, but the only issue I have is their restrictions as to where I drive the car and the fact I cannot "officially" DD itIn all likelihood as soon as my driving record cleans up in the fall I'm going to Hagartys.

Canada is going to end up like EVE, no government, the country will only be ran by giant corps with a ton of cash making up there own laws to whatever fits there plans best at that time.

He moved just over the border into Ontario, and after a couple months the insurance company called and said they were going to raise his rate higher than the standard due to the roll cage being a "street racing device".
Same insurance company, same policy everything. The only difference was where he lived. It seems that the policy guidelines and regulations differ from province to province, even with the same company. Makes no sense to me.
But I'm sure the car dealers and insurance companies are in bed together, and the Ontario Gov is probably snuggling in between them which is why no action is being taken against insurance companies making up whatever rules they feel like.
So much for a democratic society. Same thing is happening with our internet and cell phones, but again, who knows if the people can force the Gov to stand on our side instead of the giant corporation's side.Last edited by Daryl @ RightDrive; 06-01-2011, 02:43 PM.

Well, I know friends with Allstate and TD within Alberta and they pay (19-20yr olds) less than $150 a month. BC, SK, and MB have public insurance systems. For people trying to insure RHDs, this is a MUCH better system. Cause not only do they not discriminate, they provide DECENT rates!

Hmm...something to look into down the road I guess. Thanks Rick. But yeah its kind of a long shot unfortunately....if only the provincial/federal government could step in and somehow mandate these prices. The rest of the country pays 1/4 what we do and everyones fine! But thats asking too much.

And I dont know how legal it is, but renting a house in another province as a vacation place (parents bought one in FL like this), does that entitle you to register a vehicle at that address?
Insurance, ownership, license etc....if it is YOUR vehicle.
Again not positive on that...

I just called my (and my dad's) insurance company and tried to get his GT-R insured today. Dominion of canada. Despite being insured with them for nearly 20 years, (me for 10), and having my house and everything with them too, they flat out refused to insure his GT-R and told me that when I get mine back together it won't be insurable either. I'm kinda pissed about it because we had planned on going on a bit of a trip today in it in it's air conditioned awesomeness, and instead have to take my (black) talon with no a/c and blown front shocks. Yay. I'm not sure what to do about it at this point but I'm working on finding a new broker, and hopefully a new company too. Their rates have been going up every year despite my driving record getting cleaner and my age getting older. I pay more for insurance now than when I was 18.
You should have the time in now....them, and most collector policies want 10 years driving, a cleanish record, and another car for DD.
If you have the Talon for DD, they should insure the GTR's no problem, especially if you have 2.

I retried calling state farm again. I'm 19 and on my dads name for full coverage I got quoted $400 - $600 a month depending on the car (I'm guessing she meant depending on mods and the value of it). Still pretty good but if I were to finance a GTR i'd be paying $1000+ a month for it. That's a big no-no. Keep in mind as stated before they do not insure RHD unless you have been with them for at least 6 months.

D1cks.
Right now I'm with Gore Mutual, but when my renewal came up, I called my broker (Cam-Ron Ins) to make sure I was ok and he said that i was cool, but they are not taking any more NEW RHD's right now either. He did say they were doing more research on them, and depending on their "findings", may or may not insure new ones again.
Rick
*Edit - If anyone wants to try my broker, give them a call. Talk to Dave Ashdown @ Cam-Ron insurance in Sarnia, On.
He MIGHT know of other companies still accepting us......I stress MIGHT.Last edited by RixR32; 05-29-2011, 10:44 AM.
