Do you guys really think the Insurance companies care about the North American auto industry? They are here to make money, whether RHDs are banned in Ontario or not it won't change a thing for them.

They rely on stats to decide who/what/where/at what cost they insure. That's it.

Very well said Cdnleaf, a very accurate response. Realistically, dangers come with driving any vehicle, and in the end, the driver is in control of the outcome most of the time. (I say most because there's always external factors, drunks behind the wheel, etc)

With that said its rather unfair and somewhat degrading that we have something so cherishable to us and yet its made extremely difficult by others to enjoy that something,

How's this, what if RHD did get banned in Ontario? Would the insurance doors open then? The market is no longer affected, and there is only existing customers...

Cool - I'm curious to see what his response will be. MP in a majoriy government that was getting pinched by the North American auto industry isn't likely to say much. Reality - the perception is JDMs and imported RHDs hurt the auto industry. Sure I would like to buy one of Matty's Honda Odysseys or CRVs - exceptional price / quality, save 10-20k from buying a new one. And that's precisely why the insurance companies are bailing on JDMs and RHDs as daily drivers - the auto industry doesn't want it to happen. Every sale is a perceived loss of income and potential loss of jobs to Canada and the US. Not the same as the UK/France, LHDs and RHDs all getting along - their economies are not co-dependent on the production of automobiles. LMAO @ anyone who buys the load of crap 'studies' that RHDs are not safe driving on same roads etc. in Canada. Nothing to do with safety / everything to do with buying and selling LHD vehicles made North and South of the boarder. Oh and Mr. Honda doesn't give a flying duck if I can't get a JDM CRV - just as long as I get one made in Alliston, Ontario.

I have an aunt who is an underwriter there. Already asked and she went as far as asking her superiors to make an exception and it was still a no-go. I'm quite certain they wont do RHD but as you said, anything is worth a try

I was with them before my skyline. I had to get a new company. This was two years ago so I'm not sure if their stance changed.

Are you still currently with Allstate? I have 2 cars (my wrx & my wife's pontiac) my house, and garage insured with Allstate. I inquired about insuring a 3rd vehicle - an R33 GTR - and was told they won't touch it.
