I think I will install the same aerocatch hood pins on this hood as well. They are nice and clean looking, plus they are locking so I can get rid of the whole hood latch assembly.

The added weight of the new hood should be more than offset by taking out the air conditioning. The new front fenders and rear over fenders are very light.
oh I hadn't realized that you put on the a fiberglass hood. Is it the OEM hood? Yeah aerocatch seem to be the most reliable of hoodpins but personally, i've never found them appealing, though better safe than sorry.

Sounds like it will be nice and clean. Oh and removing hoodlatch? what if you get a cracked bolt, will the aerocatch pins be able to hold it the hood?
    Double track drift, yo.

I no longer have the blue GTR, it's gone. I have the silver one which is getting the R324 body kit installed. It replaces the front bumper, hood, front fenders, rear over fenders, side skirts and rear bumper. The only body parts not changed are the doors and trunk. It uses R34 headlights as well.

The aerocatch hood pins will easily hold the hood shut. A lot of race cars use only hood pins to secure the hoods. Removing the hood latch assembly will probably save 5lbs and clean up the look of the front end.

          Fuel Cell arrived Friday:

We got the car moved around to have some room to work on it,

Got the Cut Line sketched out:

          Removed the Rim:

          Made the cut:

          Removed the access:

          Got the lip rust treaded:

Got the inner fender, folded over the outer fender.. so no chance of rust to form, and then the camera died. more pics will come to show the sealing process.

So going back to your previous car, do you know what your painter used to prep the car?

Hows this car coming along? Both of us are anxious to get on the road. Need this car back in Alberta before that happens.

It's really tight. Was interesting backing up the trailer and getting the car in the garage. Not much room on either side.

                        progress!

                            Keith, our Pro-welder

Look at the size of the Fuel Cell!

                            Water Methanol

                            Grade 8 bolts FTW

Items removed for trunk prep, and painting>
Holes for fuel Feed/return and Vent fumes

                            What a difference colour makes.

didnt plan on a show trunk, but it turned out to be a show piece, stay tuned for more updates with all items re-installed.
