    • So I had a BIG water leak into my trunk filling my fuel pump box with alot of water.... I tracked it down and the water was leaking in through the rear tail lights. I had removed them last year and re-used the old black sealer and it didn't do the job anymore...

So I pulled them out again...

You can see the old ****

I only took about 10 mins a light to scrape off the old ****, here is the left over sealer from my side windows

      Looks much better

So I thought for once I lucked out and had just enough to finish the job, but when I put it back together, I realised that the black selaer wasn't thick enough so I pulled them out and went back to the store to buy some more.

As you can see the sealer doesn't stick out enough

Mannnn I was sooooo tempted to cut start hacking off the back end and putting in the R34 taillights, but thats a job best saved for a rainy day, and winter I think

                • HEAT

                  Thanks for the props guys!

Ok, I've got a heat issue.... I removed the stock heat shield when I put the fuel cell in, I was hoping that the airflow under the car would be enough to cool it....I was wrong. Everything is fine on a 20 degree day, but today its hot. The pump starts to get REALLY loud and groan, and when I shut the car off I can hear a hiss for a few seconds after from the fuel cooling down. So I can't drive it on hot days until I fix it, and good thing I missed the drift event the other day, or i would have blown up the pump, not to mention add some really hot fuel to the engine

So I need . Can I use Exhaust wrap around the muffler and some of the piping going to it to help stop the radiant heat? Does the muffler need airflow to cool?

I'm hoping to Wrap the exhaust to help the heat, then build a rear diffuser (not attached to the tank) to stop more heat, and help the aerodynamics.

Can I use Aluminum for a heat shield? Will that just suck up the heat, and throw it on to the other side? Do I have to use Stainless steel?

Depending on price, and workability I'm going to aim for Titanium, but just Looking at my options cause I want to powdercoat it black, so you wont see the titanium..

I just got my fuel cell and your build thread helps alot.

No, I can't with the new tank there. I will build a rear diffuser that will act as a heat sheild, but it will take time to make it and there is only a month left of summer.... I'm just going to wrap the exhaust and see if that will get me through....

                      Glad I can help!

                      • It's been a while since I've been on here since I've been busy with the move to BC! So I started turning a few wrenches and tweaking the car to get ready for the extra heat that BC has to offer....

Unfortuntately I cant upload photo's at work so I'll have to add them on days off....

I also installed an oil cooler, and am going to install a cooling fan in the truck fuel tank box. It gets pretty hot and I don't want to blow up...

I am going to put on sticky reflective heat sheild on the underside of the car and half of the fuel tank to stop the radient heat since the stock heat shield wont fit anymore.

I will add pics soon, and I still have to search the forums but does anyone know if it matters/is a bad thing to mount the oil cooler in the vertical position with the inlet and outlet on the bottom? I figured the pressure should push the oil to the top and not remain stagnet. Because of the size of it, I didn't want to mount it sideways.
