Why are you taking off all that extra stuff? unless your swapping it for aftermarket stuff? or to clean it? beccause you can leave pretty much everything on exhuats side on. check out the nissan r32 gtr service manual. it gives yoyu the basics of engine removal. theres like 5 things if you leave the tranny on.

Why are you taking off all that extra stuff?
Plus, nothing like cleaning your goodies. Can tell a lot by pulling your charge pipes and monitoring any build up.
Josh, you pulling the manifold or anything? If you plan to swap gaskets which i'd assume you will be as you're incredibly thorough with your work (lol), where you ordering them from? I'm gonna need a rebuild kit soon so i can start gasket matching my runners and plenum etc.Check out the GTST Projects page and keep up to date with my build!

ya the whole situation was a yowzer....
what happened was:
i sent the car in for its end of season oil change + i wanted haig to install all my Defi sensors while he was down there changing the oil... (that part was cheap, he basically installed the sensors for like $15)
anyways when it came time to install the water temp probe in the upper rad hose, the oem rad hose neck crumbeled into little black garbage lol... needless to say i needed a new radiator and i needed one quick as the weather forecast was calling for SNOW!!!
so, haig said he could get me a used oem rad for $100... but i didnt really wanna drop $100 for nothing, so i asked how soon he could get the koyo... like i said the price tag reflects that of a proper Japanese brand alloy rad, but he had one in the warehouse, so he could also do that same day... at that point it wasnt a tough call...

well i've been thinking about it, since i'll be working alot on my car's front end,
since ill be removing the rad for a while, why not pop a new one back in
but on the other hand, i've never had problems with the water temp, even after a dozen laps
and i'll also be removing my oil cooler from its present ''heat soaking like a b1tch'' position
which will definitively help the rad's efficiency
i didn't plan for a new rad, so i don't really have the budget for it now.. everything that i wanted has already been ordered, and only 2 parts haven't arrived yet (out of about 50+ parts

thats chill then, you can go that route, mine got damaged so i was in a jam... lol also, man you sooo called me on those wheel spacers hahahah ... im sure anyone who knew my setup would've called that too! i mean honestly what are the odds that someone was selling a pair of +20 bolt on spacers at an amazing price!... hope they're in decent shape when they get here!
well i know this is taking a very long time but im literally drowning in homework these days, im doing 4 very high level physics courses this semester and i typically have 6 assignments due each and every week, not to mention i work on weekend so im not left with much time to work on her...
anyways So continuing with the tear down of the car, I removed the passenger side fender liner to facilitate removal of other things later on:
essentially i had to pull the fender liner off to get this stupid useless piece out:
then i pulled the drivers side fender liner...
And finally of course the OEM front mount intercooler was able to come free...soon to be replaced with the lovel ARC one, which i realized is twice as thick as my OEM unit... lovin arc.
and of course since its not needed i pulled off that rediculous balance system pipe.. unfortunatley nissan decided that should be the main way of supporting the intercooler so ill have to fab up some new way of holding the intercooler in place as the 2 rubber bushes on the side of each bottom i don't think will be enough.....and also the HKS lower cold side piping
Also the Blitz Blow of valves which im thinking ill polish and clean up and service the springs and oil them up a bit
After some careful manipulation of shimmying the pipework back and forth it finally came free, so i got off the HKS upper cold side piping, essentiallly completing the job of completely removing the intake system,... so thats a big check mark off the list.
And the last thing i had time to do today was drop the full catback exhaust line.. i know its not necessary for engine removal, but the plan is to give it a nice coat of POR-15 high-temp exhaust paint to prevent any further corrosion of the steel.
so next up will be the Trust downpipe to come off, and then i suppose it'll be time to drain the fluids and pull the rad.The SkyLife Community & News Website --> http://www.skylife4ever.com

its just a small update but it bothered me to leave a job half done! so i did this first thing this morning! ....
so last but not least of the exhaust system, the Trust downpipe, this was really very hard to remove, i didnt have a 1/2" extension long enough and i couldnt get enough torque out of my 3/8" drive ratchet... im sure i pulled some muscles removing those 4 bolts

you decided on removing the engine? Who's building it?
BTW that isn't a trust downpipe. I might be wrong, you can tell if it's Trust if theres a Trust stamp on it.
If you need a machinist I found another engine machinist today, I needed to surface my flywheel and the shop I used is a full on engine building shop with nice equipment. I'm using TK race heads cause they're top of the line and service is amazing, but this new shop is much cheaper (180$ for bore and hone) and I'm sure does a decent job (also they're fast, surfaced and washed my flywheel in 20 minutes).

Well tonight ive done probably the most rediculous thing ever on this car build so far.. the Blitz blow off valves were very dirty and grimey and covered in a terrible corrosion. and the cast aluminum pipe that they bolt too was a disgrace... so i figured id clean up the BOV's and have a go at polishing that horrible demented pipe.. my god what a headache, i reccomend no one ever bother trying to polish that pipe lol, its miserable, the casting of aluminum makes it VERY tough to achieve a perfect polish and not to mention all the curves and grooves... ugh miserable, anyway heres my attempt to clean it up.

Took apart the blow off valves to give them all a good cleaning... LOOK at the crap inside there!

Nice work!
Although cleaning the BOVs was a good thing, I think polishing them was overdoing it! I mean, no one will see them anyways, and they will probably corrode again just as fast since their aluminum.R32 GTR FULL SERVICE MANUAL DOWNLOAD:

well its basically a small update everyday at this point, i do as much as i can while balancing homework and real work. i honestly wish my body didnt require sleep.. what a design flaw.. why do we need to sleep anyways!?
uggghh to add to the rediculous situation that was polishing the BOV's... re-assembled them and then thought id pressurize the piping to see how it holds up... all i hear is .. sssssssSSSSSSS... and im thinking.. .FFUUUU<<<<KKKKKK...
so.. i took them both apart all again.. only this time, i decided i would completely rebuild them and polish the brass pistons so they would seal properly...
so i take the circlip out of the first one, and it explodes!.. duhh... like i didnt know that would happen! the piston shot across the room and the spring went flying.. it was epic... anyways cleaned it up, oiled it, put it back together and all was good, it actuates as it should...
now the second one is the one which had the air leak.. and it was clear to me why.. it was FULL of gunk and sand and dirt.. which had caused the piston to become sezied into the BOV housing, cause when i removed the circlip. the piston did not fly out... so, i had to make use of some other tools not normally used for this purpose and after working the piston back and forth for more than an hour.. it finaaallly came free... so, i polished the brass and the inside, oiled it up, compressed the piston down, re-installed the circlip, and bolted it all back together.. ta-dah! perfect.. no air leaks anymore and both pistons actuate as they should!
i wonder how long i was running bassically with only one BOV for? lol...
next thing on my list of small tasks was to mod the balance tube for the recirc system, since i don't run recirculating BOV's i don't need the piping behind the FMIC and i need a way to block the return pipe under the intakes.. so, marked it, cut it.. and capped it, job done!
and heres the finished result of that.
THEN... it was time to get on with some of the bigger things i wanted to do, which included painting the exhaust system to stop all the gnarly corrosion!...
so i started at the axleback section with the wire brush wheel.. when to my surprise!... WOW.. the exhaust system is actually stainless steel!! hahah i had no idea! it was always so corroded and oxidized i just thought it was regular steel!
So i decided i wasnt going to polish the whole damn thing.. it would take too effin long... instead i decided to polish the axle back and muffler and the rest of the exhaust would recieve the high-temp POR-15 paint as its never seen anyways.
but ya, polished it up and gave it a coat of clear, heres the end result!
