Have you upsized injectors, valves or springs? Those usually make things louder unless you're talking a mega loud tick which is only once per cycle (guess your builder would know that). Who's the builder btw?

Problem loud, intermittent at idle, once per cam shaft rev above idle, weird surface wear pattern on one cam lobe...

that's unfortunate... Hopefully the builder is charging for the engine sale and not extra labour for troubleshooting their engine. I'm sure it'll be something repairable

Sorry to hear that you have problem with the head. Hope your builder can have it fixed in no time.

I do have a question for you. In the dry sump kit, what the size of the scavenge lines is? -10 or -12?

Sorry to hear about your troubles Dan. I know how hard it is to wait for repair work. Saw your car there a few weeks back when picking up my head and wondered what's up.

Waiting is horrible haha. I went 13 months wait with the first built engine and not it's going into month 7 (for a bearing). Had I bought a long block from outside the county, they promise 3-5 weeks and that's from a professional shop.

                    Ouch!

You should find a new shop.

My guy in town, if you need stuff done quick gets it done! As long as the parts can be found he can get stuff done the same WEEK, not half a year later.

(and GTR parts are easy to find compared to some cars - I've never had a problem)

I'm sure he'd be willing to ship to alberta, he ships stuff everywhere all the time.

Different shops every time. I haven't had issues buying parts unless I bought locally. Anyway, I don't need parts or work done. I'm parting stuff and moving on.

Dont mean to cluttler thread but seriously how do you accept these delays? if my stuff ever took that long i wouldnt be paying for the work. I would sit down with the shop when i give them my motor and as long as i give them all parts required i would set out a timeline of what i expected. My shop here can have the motor out rebuillt and but back in in a week. it owuld be faster but machine shop takes a while some times

                              Hey guys,

No one is happy about the delays, but getting it done, and done right is the main objective. For the record, Dec 16, 2012 would be two years.

As much as I care about getting the car on the road, it is a very small part of my life. The energy required to manage this project is better spent in other places. When it's complete I'll enjoy it to the fullest.

The car is buttoned back up and is being run in over the next week or so. I'll post up dyno results when they're available.

I understand - there's an M5 tire program to manage! Ha!

                                Thanks for the update.
