Thanks for posting specs! GREAT JOB, GREAT BUILD!)

Its amazing how much your set up is similar to mine!)

    Few bonus questions:
It looks you have a properly build head with big cams, how far are you revving the engine? Thinking or planning? (Rev limiter) and
This turbo you think there is more in it? Ever monitor back pressure? You like it or thinking to may be switch to something else?

Thanks for the kind words. The engine is safe to rev to 9k but simply I didn't need to rev it that high to obtain my goals. Revving higher would just add more stress although it would increase my power band but it wasn't feasible with the hp levels and this turbo. The turbo is rated at 850hp so I'm reaching towards the limits of its potential. If I wanted more power or to rev higher I would switch to a different turbo but I'm perfectly happy with it. It's more than enough to kill myself and make me **** my pants. Also in terms of bang for the buck I really believe it is near impossible to beat the Borg Warner air werks line of snails. As of right now it has a limiter at 8k and a boost cut at 27.5 psi

Sweet build. Glad to see you didn't give up like most of us that go beyond 2 engines...

As for beat the airwerks, the EFR 8374 and 9180 beat them in the top end and bottom end but cost more...

Exactly the efr 9180 obviously out performs my airwerks 9180 but at 4 times the price.

Yup ill be there I go to the rs summer meet every year. Can't believe I still haven't met you John. On a side note I'm hitting the track Friday chasing a 10. Although with the current condition of my tranny I doubt ill get a good launch in before it finally rolls over and dies.

Well, I am going to try my best to show up, hope the weather holds. You got a 10 in the bag if you get the pass to go clean. Don't be afraid to slip the clutch a little. Launches don't really kill trannys (unless you shake the tires really bad), its more the 2-3 shift. If you are going to run full boost all the way through the run just use the power to make up for slower shifts. I would practice a bit just before the day late at nite in a desolate area on low boost.

So as I prepared for the drag strip on friday we noticed that the car was running a little leaner than we would like and leaner than what we were seeing in the map on the dyno. So my tuner Bill from Independent Speed shop offered to come out to the track friday and help me get her where we wanted to be. On the way to the track I picked up bill along with about 10 of the shop guys who wanted to come out and see her run and we were on our way. We got to the track and cleared tech and were given the green light. Before making my first pass bill decided to drop the boost to 19psi and richen up the entire map. Reasoning for this was to give me a pass to get my feet wet with the power and to make sure the map was super safe. So for the first pass of the night i ran 13.01 @112mph with a embarrassing 2.2 60" now that that was out of the way bill went back to work upping the boost a bit to 23psi but still keeping the map rich (10.0-10.5 WOT) this was in contrast to the 12.0-12.2 we had tuned for on the dyno. The night was early and we wanted to make sure she was more than safe on the first few runs. With a little more boost at my feet I laid down a 12.1 @ 122mph with another shitty 60" (2.01). Once again Bill went back to work adding more boost 25psi but keeping it rich. I lined up to the stack for the 3rd pass in less than 40 minutes and ran a 11.8 @126mph with a ever improving but still mediocre 1.9 60". After the third pass, which you will see in the video there was oil pooling in the back of my head. My tomei oil pump flows quite a bit of oil especially after rapping through 4 gears on three passes basically hot lapping. Due to the fact that I am not running a oil head drain nor do I have a catch can fitted the oil that was pooling at the back of my head was being forced out the breathers onto my downpipe causing the smoke. Bill had just set up my map for the fourth pass to go balls to the wall and get kicked out of the track without a cage so i had a dilemma. I let the car cool down for some time and eventually decided this was the first drag night of the year and there was no reason to push the car too far. I was happy with cracking the 11s on my third pass in the car so we called it a night until we can fit a catch can to ensure no further damage to the car. Bill said that with how he had the maps set up for the track between the lower boost levels and the super rich and conservative afr mixtures he said that we were leaving atleast 100+whp on the table from where we were on the dyno. So over the next few drag nights we will continue to push her further and further until we hit 10s. here are some pics and vids enjoy. p.s. on a side note the tranny is clunking like it never has before and it sounds like the input shaft is going to grenade but she held up with no kinks whats so ever. She took 7k clutch drops and slamming through all the gears. I have a spare just in case tho lol.

Sorry for the shitty iphone quality

second pass 12.1 @122mph vs 300c (click picture to watch)

Third pass 11.8 @126mph vs fox body I think.

                        Time slips.

Basically I need more seat time practicing preloading and slipping the clutch off the line. I also need to have my antilag set up so i can build some boost off the line and get out of the hole quicker. I was happy with my steady improvement on each pass but I need some more work id like to be in the 1.55-1.6 range on some r compounds.

My rear diff pinion bearings went after both track days in my car. With that type of power and clutch dumping something will break, but thats all part of the game.

Good times buddy, can't wait to see her all dialed in!

Did you notice how much the car was picking up with only a 6 psi increase, everything is just fine. I don't know why the tuner was so worried, I would have let her fly. A 10 AFR fuel map is stupid rich and kinda pointless. Dyno pulls are way more heat soaking and you should have been fine.

Oh, don't worry about running much faster. Take the car to the top of 3rd and shut down from now on at the track. Once you go 11.49 at Mission and you dont have the safety gear, your done. Wait untill your 8th mile is looking good then run it out the back end. I would be shocked if you aren't pulling 135mph in the traps all dialed in, that's a 10.9 with a terrible pass, a 10.4 if it all comes together.

                                Jon.
