Thanks guys. Little question. What would I expect for compression numbers with my setup. Cp 9:1 ratio and 1.8mm metal head gasket?

Today I went to put on the rest of the oil lines and the turbos. First step was to put on the dump pipes. Got the front one done with no problems, now onto the rear turbo. I was going to slide the pipe onto the studs when one was loose. So I tried to tighten it but of course it was stripped. I went and picked up a heli coil kit and will tap it and put a coil in tomorrow. So in the mean time I put the front turbo on and the lines.

Since the hoist was free today and tomorrow. I took the opportunity to drop my transmission.

I got the transmission ready to come out so that will be dropped tomorrow. At this point I got done all I could for today so Shelby and I started tearing into the R33.

The front was pushed in more then I anticipated. The drivers like is completely destroyed so a new one will have to be sourced. We took off the lights and the bumper to see exactly what the damage is. The rebar was pushed back about 3 inches and up about 1 inch. The rebar was pushed into the intercooler wrecking one of the cooling rows.

Thankfully the rebar wasnt moved over enough to bend the horn tips on the frame.

It did its job but they are made of pretty soft metal. Some just backed into it. If it was any faster im sure it would be alot worse

First thing to do today was to get the tranny out. The old exhaust was in the way so got that out to have some more room.

I knew the exhaust was Apexi but just before the engine blew last year, I found a big hole right behind the muffler. That was the main reason for a new exhaust.

Next was to remove the drive shaft bolt and drop the tranny.

I also removed the front bumper so I could pull the intercooler and piping. They are full of oil from when the old engine blew.

After this I got the heli coil into the stripped housing hole and put the stud back in. Got the dump pipe bolted on and mounted to the motor.
All the oil lines are now hooked up and ready to rock.

I got some of the other piping on as well but ran into a problem with the front turbo. It wasnt exactly in the right spot so the top turbo pipe was hitting the valve cover. I had to rotate it about 1/8" clockwise.

Next weekend hopefully will be the weekend to start putting the motor in!

Sorry to bring this back up, but do you have any ideas on why it blew cyl. 6? I know that's always the lean cyl. but how much boost were you running? was there any tune? What will you be doing different on this build? Just want to save myself from this fate if possible. thanks! you are doing great work.

Who ever had it before pulled bunch of stuff off. One of them being a boost controller and the boost solenoid. So im not sure how it was when it was in japan but when I got it, it seemed that it had a small misfire. Could of meant some damage from before but who knows. Anyways my wastegates were open all the way and was overboosting too much. Something I didnt notice since the stock boost gauge isnt that great.

Well her heart is back in folks!
Started off the day with putting the flywheel and clutch back on then bolting the tranny up.

Then was time to start putting it in. I decided to go through the top so I didnt have to go through all the work of dropping the subframe.

Since I left the power steering pump and a/c pump in the car, we had to remove some brackets to get around them

                            Getting closer

                            She's in!

                            Bolting up the drive shaft

                            All done

Having access to a hoist made this so much easier. Would be a major pain without it. All that is left is a few more lines and connectors, put the intercooler, rad and bumper back on. Add fluids and install exhaust. Then she is ready to start up. By next weekend I should have it going.
