trouble removing plenum

Engine is still in car and I have removed ALL THE BASTARD bolts from the plenum and disconnected the AAC all electrical and plumbing but I cant slide the plenum off the studs....I have it sitting on the very ends of the studs but cannot get it off....anybody have any ideas? I'm using like 6 flathead screwdrivers and prying on them evenly but no go........???????

have you tried fluidfilm? or any type of automotive spray lube to try and help slide it off? be carefull pulling it off as sumpthing could be warped bent.

I'll bet you didn't take the three bolts out of the aac valve that go into the bottom of the i/m.

aac has been fully removed....lubricant has been sitting on for 14 hours..still not a nudge further

Bellis i used a 1/4 ratchet...a 3 inch long wrench....the back bottom 3 were the worste...for the 3rd one on the bottom from the back you need to do it from the bottom of the car...I got my arm up around all hoses and fuel lines while another guy pushed the wrench on with his finger and somehow I got it off...only took about an hour for the one nut...and I also used a long extension with a universal and then socket on end....the universal is extremely necessary or you will not get it off....make sure you take your aac off and all brackets holding fuel lines off the bottom...there are four brackets and 3 aac bolts connected to the plenum....Instead of using a 12mm socket on some of them i had to use a 1/2 which is slightly bigger because you cant get the 12mm on because of a little bit of angle that it is on....

This was the biggest friggin task ive had to do taking it off....next time it comes off i will pull the motor cuz that was extremely stupid while in car!

it gets easier everytime you take it off. I can get it off in under 1.5 hours now. Still a huge PITA though.

Haha, If a couple of bitties come with the beer. My friend has a cottage at turkey point. I heard the jalepeno poppers at the Boathouse are good... Whatever you do don't clean those throttle bodies!!!

Apparently Nissan used a sort of sealant to help the throttle bodies seal better. Cleaning it removes this sealant and causes air to be let into the engine causing a really high idle. Probably what's happening to mine.

^^^I've heard this too. I cleaned mine, I do have a high idle but I've also been told by good sources that it shouldn't cause problems. My suggestion... give 'em a wipe and then leave 'em the eff alone.

Truth. There is a little rib of sealant to help seal the throttle bodies and cleaning them can remove this sealant. Tomei makes a kit to reseal them, or i have also heard that testors model enamel works very well (and won't run you and arm and a leg)

A girl, like Bus stop bitties (girls) Hahaha. I ordered the Tomei Throttle Coat through Daryl. Only ran me about $95 to my door. Any Locals who made the stupid mistake I did are more than welcome to come over and give it a shot!
