  • What ECU do you guys have ? Haltech , AEM EMS , Power FC ??? (500hp+)

I am at the end of my project and im missing only ONE part to get it all running... The ECU !

Here is what im planning to do : No more MAF so i need 1 or 2 MAP . No more stock oxygen sensor only a wideband. And i want an ECU that has multiple input like windeband , boost control solenoid , intake temperature etc.... And an input for methanol/race fuel injection.

What ive seen on all these 3 ECU in the title is that the AEM is the one that offer more option on the input . We all know that AEM sell almost everything you need in term of high performance gaughe monitoring etc...

The Power FC looked like the one that almost everybody use but i heard its hard to find a wideband that will send a correct signal to the ecu ... or you need to buy the 300$ module that is called dataloggit or something like that...

And finally the Haltech.... never heard of this one but i know it exist...

I know that there is probably more choice of ECU management for the car so let me know what you guys use for your car.

I'll be running a single BorgWarner 91-79 setup and im planning to push around 600-700 at the wheel.

Im sure everyone will tell you to check with a tuner near you. I plan on using Vipec personally. Power Fc is a great one but it is getting outdates compared to some of the other choices we have.

Im running Haltech Platinum Pro Plug-Inn with Haltech map, and Zeitronix wideband also with map (to checked each other) along with BW S372, im not a tuner and do not know a single name of the tuner around me (except Brian from VEX performance who ripped me off!) Im a mechanic and do all the work myself including tuning. Haletch has very easy literally sefl explaining software, where if you navigate to any point with mouse program will help you with description of what is does. You can watch some educational videos of Haltech ECU on YouTube, and if i need to ask them direct question there is a forum - http://forums.haltech.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=9489, where you can ask something. But its just my opinion and im pretty sure there is some kind of support for all modern types of ECU's.

When i was doing my research i was deciding between AEM, Haltech and i think it was a Vi-Pec or something else don't remember now, but decided to go with Haltech, been a year (not daily driving) now with satisfied results, in near future i might have to find a local who will properly polish my own tune.

Priot to Haltech i never had experience any stand-a-lone ecu except for once like 2-3 years ago i plugged in to a 240sx AEM EMS V1 which looked to me VERY VERY complicated.

          Hope this helps...

Amazing knock control. Can be fine tuned really well. Idle control is rock solid. Multi 3d mapping. Etc.

Claims to be plug n play, but it requires some monkeying around to setup initially and it requires swapping the cas disk to the aem 24 tooth one, but once its all taken care of, it operates flawlessly.

My tuner said its best to tune it based off map readings and not throttle position. If tuned off throttle position it will most likely be on the rich side all the time.

              Love it.

PFC. Wish I had gone with Vipec or Halteck but the PFC was too good of a deal to turn down.
Robin Almasi from Synoptic in Montreal tuned it and I can't say enough good things about my experience dealing with him.
My only complaint about the system really is the the PFC boost control.
There certainly is better systems out there but look at who's going to tune it and don't forget the ecu IS the brains behind it all.

if you want to run that kind of power dont run a power fc. its great for relatively stock set ups. vipec or haltech are the best options imo

running power FC L-Jetro... have a little bit of coin invested in it,,, datalogit, computer, software,,, using the power-f Copilot software which is like Fcedit on roids,,, allows auto tuning and R34 like gauges if you have a car-computer..... which is my initial plans..
.....just discovered that the boost controller driver on the ECU seems to be fried as it's not talking to my Apexi Boost Controller...
Installing this http://www.rhdjapan.com/hks-evc-6-bo...ntroller-66074 to tied me over..

want to replace the Power Fc with either a Haltech or motec..

Never really understood the urge for ECU when an OEM ecu can do 650whp.

lol at 3700 posts (keep in mind most are pointless f/s bumps) and thinks that ecus are rated by hp. tell me this can the oem ecu do 4d mapping? does it have anti-lag or any launch control? does it have anyway to regulate boost? can it incorporate a wideband? can it incorporate meth? does it have multiple analog inputs? really? didnt think so.

yeah all gadgets that sound good on paper but barely do anything IRL..

I mean seriously knock it off your just beeing a total douche. Just ignore me. I seriously couldn't care less if a guy 5000km away from me doesnt like me or not LOL! whats next? your going to tell me your 512whp gtr is faster than mine? I see it coming, real soon!

Is the stock ECU using throttle for the maps? 'Cause that could explain a few things on my end...
