  • Help please!!!

So today i went out to break in my new twin disc clutch i installed to break it in... (all down hill from here) I drove around for around 100kms and all was well until i hit it a little in 2nd gear and thats when all hell broke loose. While i was getting into the throttle the car made a funky noise and stop building boost and only wanted to putt around. So i pulled over and checked under the hood to see what was going on. I found that my manual boost controller line had popped off as well as another line behind my fuel rail. So hooked both of them back up, but still had the same issue. It just wasn't building boost at all. As if it were being restricted somewhere. So i putted back home and removed spark plugs. They were very black as i expected. from there i installed new plugs and started it. My AFR started at about 16.2 at idle then slowly started to drop back down to 10.0 again. So i took it out for a quick test drive but still the same issue. Car is running very very rich. My AEM AFR gauge says 10.0 flat and never really changes at idle nor when i get onto the throttle. So i went back through and checked all of my couplings for leaks and didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

Anyone ever experience something like this or know what could possibly be wrong? I am open to all suggestions.

Sounds like it backfired and blew off the lines, prob have a boost leak somewhere, it's happened to me a couple time, I keep a flat screwdriver in the car in case it happens again, but that was like a yr ago.

ill check around for it but i don't think its a boost leak.(hope i am wrong though)but its just odd that I cant rev it over 4k. As well as my BOV makes no noise what so ever know. Im assuming that no boost is building up so it has no pressure to release.

Intercooler pipe maybe. Sounds like the same issue most of us have had over the last 22 years of these cars.

Haha yup, I spray a lil hairspray on there then slip the couplers on, haven't had any issues since

checked over ALL of the intercooler pipes. Went as far as removing the front bumper to get an even closer look but still no luck. Car idles fine even at a 10.0 AFR when i turn it on, but when i give it any throttle it acts real funny and rises to around a 11.2 AFR. As well as my BOV will not blow off either. Are there any other lines that pop off that are hidden where a cant see from the top of the engine bay?

A list of parts, area's to check -

Could be a airleak before MAF x2, as makes MAF's max out (hit boost cut earlier than it should).

MAF failure could be another (or airleak just behind MAF makes engine stutter).

Or a ceramic exhaust wheel has failed, gone down exhaust.

Check ECU for error codes, as coolant temp sensor could have failed (would explain engine running rich).

Check turbo internal actuator bulb vacuum hose.

i removed my MAF's and cleaned them as well as went around to all couplers and tightened them down a little more but still not running correctly. I also went around with a hand held propane torch and tried checking for leaks but came up with nothing sadly

Looks like rear turbo oil seal with what looks like oil on the ground. Or is that water / condensation???

I believe its condensation. Also could be from all of the unburnt fuel as well. I could be wrong though. This is my first turbo car so i am vert new to all of this
