I haz updates. So i had a few hours free today before work so i got the pistons/conrods assembled, new bearings all over, crank in, pistons in. here she is. sad to see those shiny parts hidden away...
I've been brushing my teeth with jack but it's resulted in terrible amounts of tooth decay.

i'm replacing some, if not all, of the exhaust valves as several are totally cooked. just getting the head decked, nothing fancy there. the valvetrain upgrade can wait for the big turbo.
something interesting happened with my n1 water pump delivery, UPS said it was on the truck to be delivered, followed by "emergency conditions outside of UPS control" failed delivery.
also, here. i think this is a much better pic of the engine how it sits now.

Looks good. Seems like you did the exact same thing as me to cover the threads in the block before painting it. I just ripped off a random piece of tape and threw it on over every bung lol.
Im doing my head rebuild next before I do a turbo upgrade. Hope we do our head rebuild at the same time too :P

haha that's exactly what i did. when she's ready for more work i'll just use some super fine sandpaper and clean those off.
she's going to be sitting like that (maybe with the oil and h20 pumps on if i find the time tomorrow) for a little bit. i'll get all the head work finished before i touch the block again. still gotta order those darn nismo engine mounts too.I've been brushing my teeth with jack but it's resulted in terrible amounts of tooth decay.

So I tried to install my shiny new N1 oil pump today, and the stupid oil seal that goes over the crank got screwed up. I was gentle, I oiled urvrything up, it's just dumb.
So, a questions. Did whoever else put a new oil pump on take out the main seal first, then put the oil pump on after? Is there a trick to it? I oiled it and was gentle...
I looked at my gasket rebuild kit, there are 3 more oil seals in a little package. 1 is for the big rear one, the 2 others look identical and at least 1 of them if not both must be replacement front oil seals.I've been brushing my teeth with jack but it's resulted in terrible amounts of tooth decay.

I just threw a little oil on the front main seal before I threw the oil pump on. wetn on very smooth with no problm. I had an extra front main sal if you need it. I can send iy to yuou but you should have one no problme. I dirnk toniht to typing nto good

so are the 2 identical oil seals in the gasket rebuild kit both for the oil pump? i only ruined the one that came already on the new oil pump, so i've got the 2 of them still left.I've been brushing my teeth with jack but it's resulted in terrible amounts of tooth decay.

Im not sure. I know that I had 3 left over. Two being for the cams and 1 was a mystery. I would say go ahead and use either one if they look right. As long as its snug getting the new one in the oil pump and around the crank it should be fine. Use some oil all over the seal when installing the seal in the pump and lots when putting it over the crank. Use a drift when installing the seal in the pump so it goes in evenly
