  • I believe ppl put silicone prior to install (no water) then run a bolt through it to thread. I dunno why N1's have the oval, it's not like it's supposed to be adjusted.

    • I can see in there the edges of the silicone that I applied when I installed the pump, not sure why it would leak. So I pulled out the bolt, rubbed a tiny bit of silicone into the edges of that oval, coated the bolt threads, and tightened it down good. Letting it cure overnight, fingers crossed

      • Bad luck. 5 psi pressure on the cooling system made the oval hole leak like crazy. I pulled off the water pump and resealed it. I'll pressure test again tomorrow to see if it leaks still

        • Ugh. So my neighbor mechanic genius is going to see if he can weld something in the oval hole and rethread the stripped threads in that 10mm bolt hole.

          • 1. Make an aluminum plate that will cover the oval hole.
            2. Fill the hole with rtv gasket and cover it with the plate you just made.
            3. Use a washer and put the bolt in.

No need to weld that hole... Hope it helps...

            • doing both. using a large washer in the place of an aluminum plate.
just gotta get the threads fixed before i re-install it

              • ya, this is why I didn't use an N1 pump.

However, people have sealed it before so hope you have the same luck.

                    • it's aight, it'll get sorted somehow. so once that's fixed, here are the next few projects for it.

1-Get rid of entire HICAS system
2-Find an ECU with Nistune already fitted, or buy it new
                      3-Get a front-facing plenum
4-Install my top mount turbo and manifold
                      5-Deatschwerks injectors, probably 650cc
6-Walbro fuel pump, not sure what size
                      7-Z32 or Lightning MAF
                      8-ROSS or ATI balancer

                      • Car's back running. Oil filter relocation was leaking, so I removed that temporarily and just screwed the filter onto the block. Water pump no longer leaks. Also got a little charm for the rear bumper. Here are my babies, I've got a thing for black cars...

                        • So.
                          Before.

                          After.

Lots more to come, but I think it's definitely an improvement

                            • They're prepped for paint. I had a buddy fix up a dent in one and an improper roll in the other. The left side skirt extended past the edge of the fender.
The oil filter kit was leaking from the hose coming apart internally. Got that section of hose cut out, hope it works out
